Full Job Description
T-Mobile's Spectrum, Partnership and Acquisition Team is responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and driving the company's strategic spectrum and network related acquisitions, investments and partnerships. The Principal Business Development Manager will lead spectrum and network transaction processes by identifying prospective opportunities, performing strategic and quantitative analysis, conducting due diligence, resolving, and recommending appropriate valuation and deal structure and developing strategy and leading negotiations, driving desired transaction activity and outcomes.

The role will be predominantly responsible for all aspects of Spectrum, and on occasions network related transactions and lead cross-functional teams involving Roaming, Engineering, Corporate Development, Finance, Legal and Regulatory to drive alignment across the organization.

The Principal Business Development Manager will be a highly motivated, self- driven and self-directed professional with the ability to think broadly and strategically about spectrum opportunities with application to T-Mobile's business needs, both short and long-term. This role requires the ability to discern complex, interrelated solution sets to derive informed, analytics-based recommendations to initiate investment decisions as well as the tactics to achieve those recommendations.

Due to the business needs of this unique team the right candidate will be in office MOST days a week. This role is not eligible for a remotely based candidate.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Spectrum Transactions: Evaluates and negotiates secondary market spectrum transactions (purchases, swaps and divestitures) with other wireless carriers or private equity firms. Leads transaction negotiations and handles inside/outside counsel to drive deal documentation and supports FCC filings.
  • Spectrum Auctions: As part of small, discrete auction team, develops and delivers company strategy and participation for primary sourced spectrum through FCC auctions.
  • Network Acquisitions and Partnerships: Evaluates and leads network asset acquisition and partnership projects, including financial and technical analysis, due diligence efforts cross-functionally across the company, develops bid strategies and structures recommendations and drives contract negotiations


Required Qualifications:

Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, or related fields.

Work Experience
  • 7-10 years of progressive experience in corporate development, corporate strategy or business development with strong financial analysis and valuation savvy.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Business Acumen and Problem Solving Strong business sense with constructive and proactive approach to problem solving. Robust analytical skills, with Advanced proficiency in financial modeling and analysis, valuation, and business case development;
  • Negotiation Skills: Advanced negotiation skills with the ability to lead complex, interdependent deal discussions. Ability to balance multiple projects in results driven environment while balancing value creation, risk, and deal execution.
  • Relationship Management and Collaboration: Proven ability to build and foster senior-level relationships (internal and external) to find opportunities and advance transaction discussions. Strong collaboration skills with demonstrated ability to build trust through internal cross-functional teams across an organization to achieve common goals.
  • Communication Skills: Strong ability to synthesize complex ideas into clear, compelling narratives and executive-ready presentations. Demonstrates excellent judgment and discretion with sensitive information
  • Industry Insight: Firm understanding of wireless industry trends and economics, spectrum use cases and emerging technologies


Preferred Qualifications:
  • MBA or advanced degree in Business, Finance, or related fields.
  • Experience in fast-paced results-driven, entrepreneurial or deal focused environment (Corp Dev, investment banking, venture capital). Wireless industry experience highly desired.

Travel:
Travel Required (Yes/No): Minimal travel may be required to attend conferences or meet with prospective partners.

Base Pay Range: $132,600 - $239,200

Corporate Bonus Target: 20%

The pay range above is the general base pay range for a successful candidate in the role. The successful candidate's actual pay will be based on various factors, such as work location, qualifications, and experience, so the actual starting pay will vary within this range.

At T-Mobile, employees in regular, non-temporary roles are eligible for an annual bonus or periodic sales incentive or bonus, based on their role. Most Corporate employees are eligible for a year-end bonus based on company and/or individual performance and which is set at a percentage of the employee's eligible earnings in the prior year. Certain positions in Customer Care are eligible for monthly bonuses based on individual and/or team performance.
