We're looking for a Principal Business Analyst to shape how new customers find Mission Lane, reporting to the Director, Growth.
The impact you'll make:Getting approved for a credit card is often someone's first step toward building credit, and that can put a car, a home, or whatever's next within their reach. As Principal Business Analyst, Growth, you decide where and how we spend so more people find Mission Lane when they are ready for that next step. You'll manage test investments at a meaningful scale, weighing the credit risk on each one, and you'll run the day-to-day strategy and relationship with one of our biggest affiliate partners.
As Principal Business Analyst, Growth you will:- Design and size acquisition tests, whether that's a new channel, a new customer segment, or a new offer, and make the call on how big a swing is worth taking
- Analyze the credit risk on a test before it launches: what the downside looks like if it underperforms, and whether that downside is one we can live with while we learn, reviewing the biggest bets with your manager before they go
- Own the day-to-day operations of third party relationships.
- Work with acquisition partners to keep those channels performing, from placement and pricing to the data terms behind them
- Track a test's performance while it's live, so you catch one running hot on risk or cold on response before it burns through its budget
- Partner cross-functionally with engineering and product and marketing as you launch tests with net-new products or capabilities. i
- Share your strategy and results directly with senior leadership
You'll thrive in this role if:- You've spent time in financial services, so weighing credit risk, compliance, and regulatory considerations into a decision isn't new territory for you
- You're comfortable being accountable for real money: you can make the case for a test's exposure as confidently as you can make the case for its upside
- You're curious enough to dig into the reasoning behind your own analysis, down to the assumptions it's built on, so you understand it at an elemental level
- You take ownership of your work end to end, catching your own mistakes before they compound
- You can explain a business problem clearly enough that someone outside your immediate team could follow your thinking
Minimum qualifications:- 2+ years of experience in a highly analytical role
- Financial Services Industry experience
- A bachelor's or master's degree in economics, finance, engineering, mathematics, or a similarly quantitative field, with a strong academic record
- A track record of solving open-ended business problems: framing the question, forming a hypothesis, working through the data, and defending your recommendation to stakeholders
- Comfort working in SQL, Python, or similar tools for data analysis
- Ability to travel ~4-6+ times per year for high quality in-person collaboration
Preferred qualifications:- Experience working with credit cards or other consumer lending products
- Experience helping scale a business in a fast-moving startup environment
- Strong SQL or Python skills
- Experience using AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI, Cursor, etc.)
