Testing Required:

Hybrid Role: This role is hybrid, with an established schedule of in-person work required at an assigned work location. Any remote work is expected to be performed from an employee's primary residence, unless allowed (or prohibited) through the Company's remote work guidelines.

Emergency Response: Yes - Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE's emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Job Summary

Supervises technicians in construction, operation and ongoing maintenance of complex automation, measurement and gas processing systems. Manages all aspects of the field activities relating to technical direction, adherence to standards and procedures. Responsible for managing multiple construction and ongoing Operations and Maintenance (O&M) projects related to gas measurement and controls. Leads implementation and maintains cybersecurity requirements for federal and state regulatory compliance on a widespread, complex control system. Oversee daily activities to ensure compliance with Operator Qualifications and Codes & Standards requirements.

Span of control is 8-15 FTEs.

Key Accountabilities
• Ensures compliance with Michigan Gas Safety standards, Federal regulations, and American Gas Association measurement standards relating to operation and maintenance of control and measurement equipment.
• Lead and participate in audits as appropriate, which may include preparation, demonstration, and oversight for execution of Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC) audits at compressor sites and other field sites (e.g., Emergency Shut Down procedures), MPSC or PHMSA audits of Gas Control, and Transportation Security Administration (TSA)) audits of Operational Technology (OT) cybersecurity.
• Ensures adherence to all corporate and regulatory physical and cyber security requirements.
• Conducts research and analysis, to gain understanding and approval for new equipment that meets all security specifications for system modernization.
• Plans, schedules, develops workload analysis, monitors, and coordinates operations and special/ad hoc assignments, inclusive of construction and maintenance activities within Gas Operations, Gas Control, Engineering, Project Management, and other teams to maintain system deliverability, reliability, and regulatory compliance (Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT),Michigan Occupational Safety and Health Administration (MIOSHA), Michigan Public Service Commission (MPSC), Michigan Department of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy (EGLE), Transportation Security Administration (TSA))
• Manages and oversees the programming and support of DCS (Distributed Control Systems), PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), SCADA (Supervisor Controls and Data Acquisition), and RTUs (Remote Terminal Units)
• Manages satellite, cellular, and radio IP communication networks used for field communication and ensures all DTE Information Protection and Security policies are followed.
• Provides recommendations and problem analysis to senior management and business units leaders on equipment reliability and safe operation.
• Determines cause and implements corrective action procedures in the restoration of failed or faulty equipment.
• Oversee the testing and evaluation of new or emerging technologies of control and gas measurement equipment.
• Develop and manage departmental operation and maintenance budget and capital budget
• Support the development, writing, and review of Rate Case testimony and discovery evidence
• Administers safety programs and ensures safety standards are integrated into all work activities
• Prepares and gives presentations to multiple levels of management to demonstrate current state, to gain understanding, or acquire required approval for technical solutions and/or budgetary needs.

Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

Bachelor's degree in engineering or engineering technology and 7 years of experience applying principles and theory in Communication & Controls instrumentation, gas measurement, or gas quality, including the operation and performance of related systems and equipment. Experience inclusive of 1 year of supervisory or formal leadership.

Other Qualifications
• Requires the physical capacity to work in a gas handling facility, e.g. climb stairs, work in hot confined environments. Incumbents will need to stand, bend, lift up to 20lbs. Regular exposure to elements (heat, cold, inclement weather).
• Requires travel to different work locations (typically within the Corporation's service area); incumbents may use their own vehicle or have access to a Company-provided vehicle. Individuals with access to Company vehicles must possess a valid driver's (or 'equipment appropriate') license, including any Company-determined certifications or endorsements. Must comply with any relevant Company driving/operations standards and pass Department of Transportation drug screens, subject to random drug testing.
• Must be able to respond to operational emergencies and make sound technical decisions under challenging time constraints
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, schematics and other engineering design documents and coordinate appropriate changes when required
• Analytical and problem-solving skills consistent with the ability to identify key issues from a broad range of alternatives, and recommend optimal solutions for various situations
• Broad understanding of gas field devices control, measurement, and communication equipment used in natural gas transmission and distribution systems
• Well-developed organization and planning skills (typically acquired through at least 5 years of experience).
• Competent in "multitasking" (i.e the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks, issues or projects that may include high-visibility initiatives and require innovation, teamwork and planning).
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications sufficient to apply/support them with minimal instruction or guidance
• This position is subject to random drug screening/testing in accordance with CFP Part 199 requirements
