Full Job Description
Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories (SEL) is looking for someone to join our Sales & Customer Service team as a Power System Metering Engineer in our Northeast region. If you have strong knowledge of electric power systems, revenue metering, power quality, and metering information systems, and you are passionate about customer service, problem-solving, and teaching technology, this could be the perfect opportunity to grow your career with SEL.

A typical day as an Application Engineer - Metering might include:
  • Working with customers to apply new technologies or solutions to their power systems.
  • Designing models and/or demonstrations of new technologies or solutions to teach customers how we can enhance their system(s).
  • Supporting SEL products and solution troubleshooting to get to root cause of a problem.
  • Analyzing responses of meters and relays to power system faults, power quality anomalies, and load interruptions.
  • Teaching customers how to use SEL products
  • Contributing to and reviewing white papers, application guides, industry journals, and technical papers.


This job might be for you if:
  • Have a bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A master's degree is preferred.
  • Have 5+ years of experience with power quality, metering and electric power systems.
  • Have experience with revenue metering and harmonics.

It is a plus if you have:
  • Experience with SEL metering products such as the SEL 734, 735 and/or T-35.
  • Experience with SEL Blueframe and/or AcSELerator TEAM software platforms

Pay Range Data

$97,700 - 160,000 per year. We set starting pay based on job-related factors such as your experience, training, knowledge, and skills. Depending on your background, we may consider you for a different level, with compensation aligned accordingly.
