The successful candidate will focus on development, validation, and management of transmission-system and electrical-equipment models. They will work with internal teams, the AESO, and other stakeholders, to prepare transmission modelling data packages (PDUPs), line-impedance calculations, and facility-rating reports; support small interconnection studies; provide system-capacity, power-flow, and short-circuit information; and help improve modelling processes and procedures. The role is also responsible for ensuring modelling data records, documentation, and submissions comply with applicable AESO ISO Rules, Alberta Reliability Standards, and associated requirements.

Responsibilities:

Under the supervision of the Manager, Project Engineering, this individual will be accountable for all or in part of the following:

  • Development, authentication, and submission of complete, accurate, and timely transmission modelling data packages to the AESO for existing facilities and planned additions, modifications, and re-ratings of electrical facilities and infrastructure in accordance with AESO modelling-data requirements.
  • Validation and maintenance of existing transmission-system and electrical-equipment models to ensure they accurately represent current facility configurations, equipment characteristics, operating conditions, and approved system changes.
  • Development and maintenance of line-impedance calculations and reports.
  • Development and maintenance of facility-rating reports for existing and planned transmission facilities.
  • Ensuring modelling data, models, supporting documentation, and submissions comply with applicable AESO ISO Rules, Alberta Reliability Standards, and AltaLink Standards.
  • Supporting the delivery of facility studies for system and customer projects, by providing transmission modelling, current and future system capacity assessments, power flow analysis, and short circuit information to other internal teams and external customers.
  • Collaborating with AESO teams to improve modelling processes and procedures.
  • Demonstrate key behaviors and meet identified expectations outlined in our four cultural pillars - one team, continuous improvement, customer focus and personal accountability.
