Responsibilities

  • Perform electrical Power System studies for various facilities including substations and renewable energy plants.
  • Conduct engineering calculations including short-circuit and load flow analysis, and AC/DC voltage drop.
  • Engineer and deliver high voltage substation projects for power utilities and renewable interconnections.
  • Prepare design packages for substations, including diagrams and schematics.
  • Support substation studies including sizing of AC auxiliary systems and batteries.
  • Provide construction support and coordinate across disciplines.

Full Job Description
We are seeking a Power Systems Engineer to join our team to be based out of our LATAM or West coast offices (Houston, Dallas, Austin, Los Angeles or San Francisco).

You will be a part of an integrated and growing team of utility renewable focused practitioners that cross disciplines in a holistic service offering inclusive of electrical & power engineers, civil engineers, and energy and sustainability consultants.

The Opportunity
  • Perform the electrical Power System studies for Substation, Data Center, Industrial plants, Solar plants and Wind Farm
  • Conduct engineering calculations such as short-circuit analysis, cable ampacity sizing, load flow analysis, and AC/DC voltage drop calculations
  • Perform the engineering design, technical strategy, and delivery of HV and EHV substation projects for power utilities and for the interconnection of renewables and data centers
  • Prepare substation P&C design packages including single-line diagrams, protection and control schematics, elementary and wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, control house layout, cable schedules, relay panel front and rear layout< cable tray layout and bills of materials to quality, time and budget requirements
  • Support in substation studies and calculations including AC auxiliary system sizing, battery sizing and voltage drop
  • Provide construction support and inter-disciplinary coordination

Is this role right for you?
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in electrical engineering
  • At least 4 years of experience in the Power System studies related to substation and Industrial facilities.
  • Must possess strong technical verbal and technical writing skills and be able to read and interpret technical literature
  • Eligible to obtain PE license across any state
  • Experience with short-circuit analysis, cable ampacity sizing, load flow analysis, and AC/DC voltage drop calculations and substation protection & control design
  • Software experience - ETAP, SKM, ASPEN and AutoCad

Houston Hiring Range - The good faith base salary hiring range for this job if performed in Hston is $98,500 to $125,000 per year. This range is commensurate with experience, educational background, and skill level. Benefits are not included in the base salary. Please note hiring ranges for candidates performing work outside of Houston will differ.
