Power BI Application Developer

Position Description:

CGI is seeking a Power BI Application Developer to join our team and deliver modern Business Intelligence solutions that transform data into meaningful insights. In this role, you will develop, maintain, and enhance Power BI reporting solutions while collaborating with business and technical teams to support data-driven decision-making.

This role is hybrid and requires you to be at our downtown Toronto office and/or the client office a minimum of one or two day per week, subject to change at any time.

Your future duties and responsibilities:
• Design, develop, and maintain automation solutions supporting the Power BI platform and enterprise BI environment.
• Develop automation scripts using Python and PowerShell to streamline administration, deployments, monitoring, and operational tasks.
• Build and maintain integrations using Power BI REST APIs and Microsoft Graph APIs for workspace, dataset, report, gateway, and security management.
• Develop CI/CD pipelines and source control processes using Git and enterprise DevOps practices.
• Support Power BI environment administration, including workspace governance, security, capacity management, and deployment automation.
• Collaborate with infrastructure, networking, database, and application teams to design scalable BI platform solutions.
• Perform server and infrastructure planning, including cluster sizing, capacity planning, performance tuning, and high availability considerations.
• Troubleshoot platform, connectivity, authentication, gateway, and performance issues.
• Document technical designs, operational procedures, and automation processes.
• Participate in production support, incident resolution, and continuous platform improvements.

Required qualifications to be successful in this role:
• 5+ years of experience with Power BI Administration and enterprise Power BI environments.
• Strong proficiency in Python.
• Strong proficiency in PowerShell scripting.
• Experience working with Power BI REST APIs and API integrations.
• Experience with Git and source control best practices.
• Experience building automation solutions for BI or enterprise platforms.
• Strong understanding of SQL Server and relational databases.
• Experience with Windows Server administration.
• Knowledge of infrastructure concepts including server sizing, capacity planning, clustering, and high availability.
• Understanding of networking fundamentals, authentication, DNS, firewalls, and connectivity.
• Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
• Excellent communication and documentation skills.

The determination of this range includes factors such as skill set level, geographic market, experience and training, and licenses and certifications. Compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $65,000-$115,000. This role is an existing vacancy.
