This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which is comprised of Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance. This includes Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

This position is part of the New Glenn recovery operations and reports to the Sr. Manager of Marine Operations. As a Port Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring the readiness and operational capability of vessels supporting the recovery of New Glenn stages. You will work closely with a team of engineers, technicians, and launch personnel to maintain, troubleshoot, and enhance vessel systems critical to mission success.

Responsibilities:
  • Oversee vessel systems, including propulsion, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Ensure vessel readiness for recovery operations, including maintenance and inspections.
  • Develop and implement operational requirements for vessel support activities.
  • Advocate for design-for-operations improvements.
  • Author detailed procedures for vessel operations and maintenance.
  • Lead teams of technicians and engineers in system readiness and operational execution.
  • Develop and maintain schedules, quality documents, and engineering records.
  • Troubleshoot and correct system anomalies in real-time during recovery operations.
  • Participate in post-mission reviews and process improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:
  • Minimum:
    • B.S. Degree in Engineering, Science, or Math.
    • 2+ years of demonstrated technical expertise in marine systems, propulsion and/or marine operations.
    • Strong operational planning and organizational skills.
    • Effective technical communication capabilities.
    • Ability to support occasional off-shift work schedules.
  • Desired:
    • Third Engineer or higher USCG STCW endorsement
    • DP Operator Certificate or DP Maintainer OEM Course.  Extensive DP vessel experience can be accepted.
    • Knowledge of vessel system operation and maintenance processes.
    • Experience with ship integration and marine operations.
    • Control room or operations experience in high-consequence environments.
    • Experience with integrated management systems
    • Successful experience writing technical procedures and non-conformance documentation.
    • Leadership experience managing teams integrating multiple subsystems.
    • Strong safety record, including hands-on experience with hazardous operations.
    • Strong personnel management and mentoring skills.
    • Project management, budget management, and team leadership skills.
    • Knowledgeable in MS Office, Atlassian Suite and
