THE OPPORTUNITYThis is a new seat. The PMO Director will serve as a trusted partner to the Vice President of PMO on structure, process, and adoption, helping stand up a three pillar PMO across Governance, Delivery, and Analytics and Enablement. During the PMO organization build out, you will not sit above the pillar leads. You will sit beside the Vice President while active data center large scale programs are running at full speed.
You will help shape the operating model, drive the documentation and rollout of priority playbooks, and bring discipline that complements the strong technical and operational expertise already in place. This is a builder seat with executive visibility and downstream growth into broader program leadership.
WHY THIS ROLE- You will not inherit a PMO. You will build one alongside an experienced PMO Vice President with executive sponsorship and air cover from the top of US Services
- You will help shape the operating model that scales from current state to a multi hundred-million-dollar service line over the next two to three years
- The PMO Director will partner with the PMO Vice President to establish and scale the Project Management Office as a new enterprise capability. This role is responsible for designing and running core PMO operations, including governance, portfolio reporting, delivery oversight, resource coordination, methodology adoption, and team leadership. The ideal candidate brings experience building structure in environments without an established PMO and can translate strategic direction into practical, sustainable execution disciplines.
WHAT YOU WILL DO- The PMO Director is responsible for building and leading the day-to-day operations of the Project Management Office from the ground up. This role partners closely with the PMO Vice President to design and establish the PMO's operating model, governance framework, portfolio reporting, delivery standards, and team structure. The PMO Director translates PMO strategy into practical processes, tools, and routines that create visibility, consistency, and control across the project and program portfolio.
- This leader will help shape how the PMO functions within the organization, including how projects are initiated, governed, monitored, and reported. The role is accountable for standing up core PMO capabilities such as intake and prioritization support, status reporting, risk and issue escalation, resource coordination, methodology adoption, and delivery assurance. As the PMO matures, the PMO Director will refine these capabilities into a scalable, high-performing function that supports strategic execution.
- The PMO Director also leads PMO staff and helps define future organizational structure, roles, and capabilities. Success in this role requires both strategic building capability and strong operational discipline, with the ability to work across executives, business leaders, and delivery teams to implement a PMO that improves execution quality and decision-making across the enterprise.
- Co-own the PMO charter rollout, role and responsibility delineation between PMO and operations, and transition planning for double hatted program managers
- Establish governance rhythm, decision rights, and escalation paths that scale across multiple geographies and customers
- Help shape the bench, including pillar leads and senior PMs, by participating in panel interviews and onboarding
- Stand up an executive dashboard view, partnering with the Analytics and Enablement team, which gives leadership and customers clear visibility into project health
- Represent the PMO in client engagement and senior leadership reviews as needed
- Calibrate the PMO as scope evolves, including new customer onboarding and project ramp and wind down
- Once the PMO organization is formed, the PMO Director will transition into a PMO operational performance role
WHAT YOU BRING- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Business, Project Management, or Engineering Management preferred. Comparable experience accepted.
- PMP or PgMP required. Holding both is a strong plus.
- Eight to ten years of proven PMO environment experience, with track record of building or scaling a PMO function. Application and engagement valued over tenure.
- Pattern recognition from at least one prior PMO buildout, scale up, or major transformation. We are not looking for steady state operators.
- Demonstrated ability to operate as a partner to senior leadership rather than a layer between leadership and execution
- Strong communication and adoption skills, comfortable driving change with experienced operational and technical teams
- Experience working across multiple sites, customers, and project portfolios simultaneously
- Hyperscale, data center, or large infrastructure experience is a definite plus, but not a requirement. Project management discipline is the priority.
TRAVEL AND AUTHORIZATION- Travel is up to 40 percent, heavier in the early months as the team builds connection with operations and customer sites
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a long-term basis. This position does not offer employment visa sponsorship now or in the future.
COMPENSATIONCompensation philosophy, base plus performance bonus tied to initiative success measures, quality, and customer satisfaction. Specific ranges discussed during candidate conversations.
