Job Description

The Plant Manager is accountable for strategic operational oversight of a continuous manufacturing operation, including ensuring safety and quality standards, optimizing efficiency, cost management and leading a team of employees to meet the plant and organizational goals.

The Plant Manager will:
  • Lead and foster a plant safety culture through the operation, meeting all company and statutory requirements using the assigned processes and leader standard work for safety
  • Lead daily plant operations, ensuring safety, quality, delivery and cost targets are met or exceeded
  • Promote a culture of accountability and teamwork within the plant
  • Develop capabilities of direct reports through mentoring, training, and coaching
  • Work with plant leadership to develop and implement succession planning and talent management program
  • Responsible for the implementation of O-I's quality system by adhering to all quality standards
  • Work with plant leadership to maintain productive employee relations. Promotes and supports team building and employee empowerment
  • Establish a culture of operational excellence. Works with appropriate plant leadership team to develop a plan for process improvement in the plant, including technological improvements, training to improve employee skills, and identifying opportunities to reduce costs
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as engineering, quality, finance, HR, etc. to identify opportunity for enhancing product quality, reducing costs, and improving overall plant efficiency with goal of improving productivity and margin
  • Responsible for leading and managing the hourly workforce in alignment with the terms of the multi-site Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA). This includes full compliance with all contractual obligations, labor laws, and company policies. Fosters a collaborative relationship with the union leadership, proactively addressing concerns and promoting open communication. Through partnership with the Union, drives employee engagement, supports a positive work environment, and champions initiatives that enhance workforce morale, productivity, and operational excellence.
  • Ensures compliance with Company policies, OSHA, EPA and other regulatory agencies

The Plant Manager should have:
  • Effective cost management of all controllable cost elements, ensuring this is achieved at the right level of the organization, at the department level to ensure ownership and accountability for cost
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong relationships with key customers
  • Ability to interact with all levels of management, both external and internal to O-I
  • Excellent change management and people skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to manage changing priorities


Qualifications
  • Bachelor Degree is required
  • Must have previous experience leading people in a manufacturing environment
  • Technical background in manufacturing and plant processes
  • Previous experience with P&L responsibility with success achieving KPIs and performance targets
  • Strong negotiation skills and union background with ability to lead by influence
  • Strong Financial Acumen and business understanding
  • Team Oriented Individual - must have excellent change management and people skills


Additional Information

What we offer at O-I:

Salary Range: The expected salary range for this position is between $140,000 and $170,000 and includes a possible 25% STI quarterly incentive bonus and 10% LTI yearly incentive bonus. Actual pay will be adjusted based upon candidate experience and other job-related factors permitted by law.
