Job Summary:

We are seeking a hands-on Plant Controller to support our Bozeman, MT and Freeport, PA operations. This role is responsible for manufacturing cost accounting, inventory accounting, financial reporting, and business partnering for both sites.

The ideal candidate brings strong manufacturing cost accounting experience and enjoys working closely with operations to understand plant performance, inventory, labor, and profitability drivers. Reporting to the Finance VP for the Surveillance Division, this is a highly visible role with broad responsibility and direct interaction with site leadership.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Perform monthly, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including cost center reviews, journal entries, and manufacturing variance analysis
  • Analyze overhead, inventory, and other financial data to support operational and business decisions
  • Lead budget preparation and partner with site leadership on forecasting and financial planning for assigned sites, including revenue, margin, and cost centers
  • Prepare standard costing labor and overhead rates; maintain, update, and roll standard costs as needed
  • Prepare analytical reports and deliver financial insights to Site Leads
  • Assign general ledger (G/L) coding and review and approve purchase orders
  • Prepare and maintain weekly forecast updates
  • Monitor and analyze inventory, including Excess and Obsolete (E&O) reserves and physical inventory activities
  • Assist with fixed asset audits and related documentation
  • Partner with Accounts Payable, Materials, and Operations teams to resolve discrepancies and variances
  • Prepare and coordinate responses for corporate and government surveys; collaborate with other Surveillance sites to avoid duplication
  • Perform other duties as required in support of site and divisional financial objectives


Job Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required
  • 8 - 10 + years of Accounting or Finance experience, including cost accounting in a manufacturing environment strongly preferred
  • Experience with standard costing, inventory accounting (including physical inventory and E&O), and manufacturing variance analysis
  • Experience partnering with operations or site leadership to support business decisions
  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP system preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and data analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively with cross-functional teams
