Planning Manager provides oversight and guidance on the financial operations of Infrastructure and budget management to ensure cost-efficiency and financial transparency within Manulife's infrastructure spend.
Work location: Waterloo - Canada or Toronto - Canada or Boston - USAWork arrangement: Hybrid - 3 days in office, 2 days from Home.Remote working option is not available.Position Responsibilities:- On a day-to-day basis you will be involved in the following:
- Utilize a data-driven approach to analyze team financial performance and advise on tactical strategies to improve financial predictability and minimize variance
- Provide analysis of financial results and assess risks and opportunities across individual technology teams and at a consolidated level
- Play a key role in budgeting and forecasting processes
- Develop a consistent approach to assessing department run rate, projected spend, and cost and efficiency opportunities in partnership with Finance
- Support Book of Work planning by developing business cases, tracking changes, and managing plan variances
- Establish cost controls through best practices in partnership with the Expense Management team and identify opportunities to improve transparency and optimize spend
- Partner with tower leads on forecasting new agreements that affect segment chargeback models
- Partner with the HR team on headcount planning that aligns with org charts, financial plans, and team strategy
- Contribute to a culture that encourages transparency, inclusivity and innovation
Required Qualifications:- At least 8 years Industry experience
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in Financial and Business Planning roles
- Advanced proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Excel (pivot tables and macros)
- Must have experience working with large datasets using tools such as Power BI, with the agility to quickly learn and adapt to new data platforms and technologies
- Strong Financial Planning experience in IT is required
- Strong critical thinking and analytical skills
- Proven ability to advise executives and senior leaders on business and financial matters, influence stakeholders, and collaborate across teams on complex work
- Ability to lead change, align teams around a shared vision, and drive timely execution
- Flexible to work off-regular hours to meet delivery timelines in certain situations
- Proven ability to think strategically, learn quickly, solve problems, and apply creativity
- Exceptional skills at building relationships and collaborating with others
- Experience working with vendor agreements and statements of work (SOWs)
Preferred Qualifications:- Bachelor's degree or Diploma in a related field.

Salary range for hiring in Boston, MA-USA: $107,450 USD - $153,500 USD (mid-point) - $199,550 USD
