Full Job Description
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and project delivery expertise throughout all phases of project development, including opportunity identification, feasibility studies, conceptual design, FEED, detailed engineering, procurement support, construction management, commissioning, and start-up. The role requires close collaboration with multidisciplinary engineering teams, clients, regulators, contractors, and operations personnel to deliver safe, cost-effective, and fit-for-purpose solutions.

In addition to technical and project execution responsibilities, the successful candidate will contribute to business development activities through client relationship management, proposal development, scope definition, cost estimating, strategic planning, and identification of growth opportunities within existing and emerging markets.

This position is ideally suited for an engineer with strong experience in pipeline and facility systems, including liquid and gas pipeline design, pump and compressor stations, custody transfer and metering systems, pressure control and overpressure protection systems, pipeline integrity and maintenance projects, process facilities, and related energy infrastructure. The successful candidate will possess a combination of technical expertise, project management capability, and commercial awareness to support both project success and long-term client development.

This position is primarily office-based with periodic travel to client sites throughout Western Canada for field investigations, design reviews, commissioning, start-up support, and construction activities

Job Highlights:

This is an intermediate to senior level position, and the incumbent will work under the direct supervision and guidance of the Pipeline & Facilities Manager and Engineering Team.

Technical Engineering & Design
  • Lead and execute pipeline and facility engineering projects from concept selection through detailed engineering, construction, commissioning, and start-up.
  • Develop, review, and approve engineering deliverables.
  • Perform engineering analysis and design for:
    • Oil and gas pipeline systems
    • Pump stations and terminal facilities
    • Metering and custody transfer systems
    • Pipeline integrity, repair, and replacement projects
    • Pressure control and overpressure protection systems
    • Facility piping and process systems
  • Support route evaluation, constructability assessments, material selection, and system optimization studies.
  • Participate in HAZOPs, PHAs, constructability reviews, design reviews, risk assessments, and management of change activities.
  • Provide technical support during procurement, construction, hydrotesting, commissioning, start-up, and operational troubleshooting activities.
  • Conduct site visits for information gathering, field verification, as-building, P&ID walkdowns, and construction support activities.


Project Management & Delivery
  • Manage and coordinate engineering projects through all phases of execution while maintaining alignment with project scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety objectives.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary engineering resources.
  • Prepare and review project execution deliverables including:
    • Project scopes of work
    • Cost estimates and quantity take-offs
    • Project schedules
    • Bid packages and technical requisitions
    • Technical bid evaluations
    • Capital cost and construction estimates
  • Coordinate internal resources, subcontractors, vendors, and contractors to support successful project delivery.
  • Participate in client meetings, progress reviews, and technical workshops while serving as a key point of contact throughout project execution.
  • Ensure project deliverables are completed in accordance with company quality standards and client expectations.


Leadership, Business Development & Continuous Improvement
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, and guidance to EITs, designers, and junior engineers.
  • Conduct technical reviews and quality control checks of engineering deliverables.
  • Support the development and standardization of engineering procedures, templates, tools, and best practices to improve project execution efficiency.
  • Assist with preparation of proposals, studies, work plans, and engineering estimates for prospective projects.
  • Contribute to business development initiatives through client engagement, relationship management, and identification of new opportunities.
  • Maintain ongoing communication with the Pipeline & Facilities Manager and Engineering Team to support effective department operations and resource planning.


Accountabilities
  • Deliver safe, practical, cost-effective, and fit-for-purpose engineering solutions for pipeline and facility projects.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, client specifications, CSA, ASME, and industry standards.
  • Maintain effective working relationships with clients, contractors, vendors, regulators, and project team members.
  • Achieve project objectives related to quality, cost, schedule, safety, and client satisfaction.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to the long-term growth and success of the Pipeline & Facilities group.
  • Champion technical excellence, project execution best practices, and strong client service throughout all phases of project delivery.

Qualifications:

  • Experience working with owner/operators, EPCM firms, engineering consultants, or midstream companies.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, planning, problem-solving, and organizational skills
