Department: Allied Health, Emergency Dept and ALC Unit
Reports to: Manager, Allied Health
Salary Range: $43.47 to $54.34 Hourly
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Shifts: Monday to Friday, 12 pm to 8pm
Status: Permanent Part Time, with Full time hours until March 31, 2027.
Closing Date: June 30th, 2026

Position Summary
The Physiotherapist (PT) is an integral member of the Physiotherapy service, Allied Health, clinical programs and will work occasional weekends. Through the provision of patient and non-patient care activities, the PT enhances the quality of life of patients by planning and implementing individually designed programs of physical treatment to maintain, improve, or restore physical functioning and cardio-respiratory health, alleviate pain and prevent physical dysfunction in patients.

Duties
  • Gathers patient information, including: observing and interviewing the patient and essential care partners; reviewing and interpreting pertinent patient documentation and health records; attending and participating in rounds, clinics, and case management meetings; actively collaborates with interprofessional team member
  • Conducts initial screening and both formal and informal assessment protocols to assess patients' physical, functional, psychosocial, perceptual, and cognitive status
  • Analyzes all collected data to develop a clinical impression, formulate a treatment plan and consultation recommendations
  • Communicates the results of the assessment/clinical impression to the patient, essential care partners and health care team; if the results of the assessment indicate, then communicates a diagnosis identifying a disease, physical disorder, or dysfunction as the cause of the patient's symptoms as per the controlled act of communicating a diagnosis in the RHPA. Implements modifications and shifts in individualized treatment programs in order to reflect the patient's changing needs, as appropriate
  • Coordinates and/or participates in the education of students/learners, hospital staff and the community as well as maintaining excellence in the provision of physiotherapy services through ongoing professional development
  • Leads and/or participates in research studies related to physiotherapy
  • Participates in the development, implementation, and monitoring of quality indicators as per the Quality Programs of Allied Health, the Clinical Unit or Corporate Program of the University Health Network
  • Critically appraises, chooses, and implements outcome measures to assess the effectiveness of physiotherapy interventions


Qualifications
  • Master's Degree in Science (Physiotherapy) or recognized equivalent based on Registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Current registration with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario
  • Membership in the Canadian Physiotherapy Association preferred
  • Experience in the assessment and treatment of critical care, acute surgical and general medicine patients experience required
  • Minimum One (1) year related experience
  • Oxygen titration and suctioning experience and rostering of skills
  • Complies with the legislation outlined in the Regulated Health Professions Act, (1991) and the Code of Ethics and Rules of Conduct of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association
  • Recognizes and acts within the scope and limitations of the physiotherapist role
  • Must be able to perform the physical demands of the job
