Full Job Description
Overview

The WakeMed Hospitalist physician is responsible for providing quality clinical care to patients cared for by the Hospitalist division. Work with a team of experienced and highly skilled physicians, physician assistants, and nurse practitioners that are committed to the Wake Way as we pursue improving the health and well-being of our community by providing outstanding and compassionate care to all. The physician may be responsible for providing teaching and supervision to APP's within their division. The physician may also opt into being responsible for providing teaching and supervision to medical students and residents. The physician is responsible for appropriate coding and corporate compliance and may be responsible for some general administrative responsibilities of the practice. The physician reports directly to the Hospitalist Medical Director and understands and supports the mission values and management of WakeMed Physician Practices and WakeMed. EMR is Epic. Shift schedule is flexible and variable with 10-hour shifts that are typically 8 am to 6 pm though other shifts exist that may necessitate afternoon and evening hours (e.g. 2 pm to midnight, 4 pm to 2 am). We do have a dedicated nocturnist group which makes overnight shifts less likely. ICU is closed with onsite 24/7 critical care support.
