Full Job Description
The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the reliability and integrity of door and access control systems across all initiatives. This includes verifying that the correct door and access hardware, software, and system configurations are specified and applied during Internal Sales Reviews - providing technical support for any system-related issues that may arise throughout the system deployment. This role involves reviewing and updating materials, equipment, and hardware to ensure compliance with applicable codes, industry standards, and manufacturer specifications, while proactively mitigating potential warranty issues. The candidate will support the Sales Team by attending meetings, reviewing solutions, and specifying product details and part numbers, when needed. Core responsibilities include training and mentoring, assisting with operational design resolution, and contacting manufacturer representatives for technical support. The qualified candidate must demonstrate comprehensive knowledge and hands-on experience in reviewing, interpreting, and designing access control and integrations, IP Surveillance and intrusion systems. Submittal, wiring diagrams, and floor plan review within Divisions 8 and 28 will also be required, as assigned by the Engineering Manager. The role requires active participation in ongoing education and certifications relevant to system integration technologies. Candidates must be comfortable working collaboratively with field technicians, clients, vendors, AHJ representatives, and internal teams, both in-person and remotely, ensuring the technical accuracy of all products prepared for review. Availability to work after hours, on weekends, and travel periodically is a requirement, whether onsite with technicians or via remote access. Essential Functions: • Provide Access Control / IP Video support to clients and their support staff and Company team members to consist of the use of computer hardware, software, and programming via all means necessary, remote or onsite. • Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing network systems, and internet systems being utilized for Access Control and IP Video. • Perform network maintenance on internal Lanmor equipment, including printing, installation, word processing, electronic mail, and operating systems; assist with commissioning laptops, and administrative responsibilities. • Analyze user requirements, procedures, and problems, and provide design and concise bill of materials. • Layout, build, test, troubleshoot, repair, and modify developmental and electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems taking ownership of safety, quality, and performance. • Supports proposal development by coordinating with Sales to ensure correct product and systems programming are specified. • Ensure we meet Model Codes and Manufacturer specifications, avoiding warranty issues for service and projects. • Utilize custom industry database & software, along with SOPs, consultations, and identifying vulnerabilities. • Competent in the various Div 8 and Div 28 design perimeters and limitations, per Codes and Standards. • Strong attention to detail and organization, able to train others on products and convey information effectively to others. • Advanced computer skills, able to work unsupervised, able to interpret diagrams and wiring schemes. • Confident with utilizing factory tech support and various means & methods to complete tasks. • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Outlook. • Ability to create and maintain productive relationships with colleagues, clients, and vendors. • Other related duties as assigned. Education/Experience: • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Information Systems, or a related discipline preferred. • 3-5 years of experience with Division 8 hardware, low-voltage electrified hardware, and integrations or auto-operations experience. • 3-5 years of experience with Division 28 equipment, including installation, programming, commissioning, and servicing of electronic security, access control, and intrusion systems. • Professional manufacturers' certifications are preferred. Physical Demands This position requires physical activity consistent with a construction or installation environment. The employee will spend more than two-thirds of their time standing, kneeling, crouching, stooping, using hands to handle or feel, and reaching with hands and arms. Approximately one-third of the time may be spent walking and engaging in verbal communication or listening. Frequent lifting and moving of materials weighing between 25 and 50 pounds is required. Work Environment This role may involve travel to project sites and exposure to a variety of environmental conditions. These may include outdoor weather, proximity to forklifts or other heavy machinery, and the use of hand tools or hardware. Employees may be subject to frequent heavy lifting and other physical demands typical of a construction or warehouse environment.
