Payroll, Compensation & Benefits IT Specialist serves as the primary technical subject matter expert for the Dayforce HCM platform. This role leverages Dayforce's single-instance platform to configure, maintain, and optimize core modules-including
Dayforce Payroll, Total Rewards, Benefits Administration, Advanced HR, and Time & Attendance.
The ideal candidate blends deep technical capabilities (Rules Engine configuration, Data Transformations, API/Integration management) with a strong operational understanding of multi-state payroll, wage compliance, and total rewards workflows.
Key Responsibilities1. Dayforce Module Configuration & Rules Management- Configure, maintain, and audit system rules within Dayforce Payroll, Benefits, Compensation, and Dayforce Time & Attendance.
- Utilize the Dayforce Rules Engine to build complex earning/deduction rules, overtime calculations, shift differentials, garnishment processing, and pay policy parameters.
- Administer annual Open Enrollment within Dayforce, configuring carrier plans, eligibility rules, life events, enrollment workflows, and passive event triggers.
- Configure compensation cycles, merit matrix models, bonus structures, and eligibility criteria across various business units.
2. System Integration & Data Engineering- Design, build, and maintain automated data exchanges using Dayforce Data Transformations (XML / XSLT), Web Services APIs, and secure file transfers (SFTP).
- Manage 834 EDI carrier feeds, 401(k)/pension provider interface files, and custom General Ledger (GL) posting interfaces.
- Manage API connections connecting Dayforce to enterprise ERP systems, banking networks (ACH/NACHA formats), and third-party vendor applications.
3. Analytics, Reporting & Compliance- Author, schedule, and optimize standard and complex custom reports using Dayforce Analytics / Ad-Hoc Reporting and SQL.
- Conduct regular system audits to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor standards (e.g., FLSA overtime rules, ACA 1095-C tracking, ERISA, and local tax requirements).
- Retrieve and prepare system logs, audit reports, and balance statements to support internal/external financial and SOC compliance audits.
4. Release Management & Tier 3 Support- Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex payroll calculation glitches, benefits transmission errors, or rule logic failures.
- Manage regression testing and validation during Dayforce Service Packs, weekly release updates, and yearly tax table updates.
- Oversee Dayforce Role-Based Access Control (RBAC), Feature Access, and Data Access policies to ensure strict PII security.
Minimum Qualifications:- Degree or equivalent and typically requires 4+ years of relevant experience.
Required Qualifications & Skills- Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 4+ years of hands-on technical configuration and administration experience within the Dayforce (Ceridian) platform.
- Technical Expertise:
- Demonstrated experience configuring the Dayforce Rules Engine (Pay Setup, Benefit Setup, Compensation Setup).
- Hands-on proficiency with Data Transformations (XML, XSLT), SFTP protocol setup, and API integrations within Dayforce.
- Expert-level custom report authoring using Dayforce Analytics.
- Functional Knowledge:
- Strong working knowledge of multi-state/multi-jurisdiction payroll processing, tax filing rules, and benefits administration logic.
- Understanding of regulatory compliance frameworks (ACA, FLSA, HIPAA, SOC 1/2).
Preferred Certifications- Dayforce Certified Professional (e.g., Dayforce Payroll, Dayforce Benefits, or Dayforce Integration Specialist)
- CPP (Certified Payroll Professional)
- WorldatWork CCP (Certified Compensation Professional) or SHRM-CP / PHR
