Full Job Description
Position Overview
United Health Services (UHS) is seeking a dedicated Pharmacist to join our inpatient pharmacy team. The Pharmacist will ensure the safe and accurate administration of medications by verifying the clinical appropriateness of prescribed treatments and overseeing proper delivery methods, thereby promoting patient safety and optimizing therapeutic outcomes.

Primary Department, Division, or Unit:
Pharmacy Services, UHS Binghamton General Hospital

Primary Work Shift:
Rotational

Regular Scheduled Weekly Hours:
40

Compensation Range:
$54.17 - $81.25 per hour, depending on experience

Job Responsibilities
  • Review medication orders for appropriateness (dose, route, frequency, indication, interactions, allergies)
  • Verify and dispense physician-ordered medications in accordance with hospital protocols
  • Perform medication reconciliation upon patient admission, transfer, and discharge
  • Monitor patient therapy outcomes and adjust or recommend changes to optimize treatment
  • Provide drug information to healthcare providers, patients, and caregivers
  • Evaluate and prevent adverse drug events and medication errors
  • Ensure compliance with hospital formulary and therapeutic guidelines
  • Maintain inventory control of medications, including controlled substances
  • Document all activities in the electronic health record (Epic)
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
  • Precept pharmacy students and residents in clinical and operational settings

Position Qualifications

Minimum Required:
  • A Bachelor's of Science Degree (B.S.) or Pharm.D. in Pharmacy from an accredited college or university
  • Licensed as a Pharmacist in New York State or NYS internship permit

Preferred:
  • One year experience as a pharmacist
