Position Overview:
Integrates knowledge, theory and practice to properly execute procedures in assigned areas of the laboratory. With advanced training and education, maintains competence in all practices to perform pre-analytic, analytic, and post-analytic procedures on biological specimens to aid health care providers in the diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and prevention of disease. May be responsible for specimen/material receipt, preparation, and archival/retrieval, as well as validation testing and problem troubleshooting, as defined by department policies and procedures. As a professional member of the laboratory team, works cooperatively with physicians, clients, and staff to facilitate superior patient care and to represent the laboratory positively by acting with courtesy, dignity, respect, and professionalism.

EDUCATION:
  • Bachelor's: Biological science or related field from a regionally accredited college/university
  • Other: Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Pathologists' Assistant program within the last five years


CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE:
  • ASCP-American Society for Clinical Pathologist within 6 months


TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
  • 2 years of recent relevant experience.


SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:
  • Knowledge/Skills: Demonstrated advanced knowledge and technical competence in gross and post-mortem examinations, laboratory operations, and quality assurance in surgical pathology.
  • Quantity of Work: Ability to organize and prioritize job duties and assigned tasks for completion within expected timeframes.
  • Quality of Work: Ability to accurately, precisely, and reliably perform job duties and assigned tasks. Demonstrates sound judgment and problem solving relevant to assigned duties.

Pay Range is $73.73 to $92.16 / hour

Total compensation considers multiple factors, including, but not limited to a candidate's experience, education, skills, licensure, certifications, departmental equity, training, and organizational needs.
