Job Title: Paralegal

Salary: $40 - $50 per hour

About the Role

We are a rapidly growing law firm seeking a detail-oriented, multi-tasking Paralegal to own the lifecycle of their cases - from initial filings to trial preparation. You'll work to support firm Partner Jillian Duggan-Herd to ensure deadlines are met, procedures are followed, and the highest quality work product is delivered. Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • Track case progress from "start to finish" ensuring all deadlines and procedural requirements are met
  • Prepare legal correspondence, pleadings, briefs, discovery requests/responses, financial disclosures, and client declarations
  • Maintain attorney calendars: hearings, meetings, deadlines, discovery, and case milestones
  • Analyze, review, and organize discovery materials
  • Maintain thorough knowledge of San Diego County local rules and statewide rules of court
  • Communicate with clients proactively regarding their case
  • Review of financial documents
  • Direct and coordinate law office activity, including delivery of subpoenas or service of documents
  • Delegate administrative tasks to legal assistants as available while ensuring all work is completed. Perform all Legal Secretary duties but may delegate tasks as available.
  • Support attorneys with special projects and additional assignments as needed.


Job Requirements:
  • Paralegal Certificate required, bachelor's degree a plus
  • Minimum 5 years' experience as a Paralegal in family law in San Diego County required
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience supporting a firm partner or CFLS preferred
  • Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time management abilities
  • High attention to detail; ability to follow complex instructions accurately
  • Resourceful, proactive, and experienced with managing multiple deadlines
  • Critical thinking skills - Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems
  • Proficient computer skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and general office software


Additional Information
  • This role can be fully remote, hybrid, or in-person at our Mission Valley office, Monday - Friday from 8:30am - 5:00pm.
  • If you do not have experience in San Diego County, your application will not be considered.
  • The anticipated compensation for this role is $40 - $50 per hour, but ultimately will depend on experience.

Pay Range: $40 - $50 per hour
