Job Description :

Reporting into the News Editor, Exclusives, with a dotted line to the News Editor, California Post, the Page SIx West Coast News Editor, Exclusives will lead Page Six’s enterprise operation on the West Coast and differentiate Page Six and the California Post in an increasingly crowded landscape. This role is responsible for building and guiding a team of reporters focused on original, agenda-setting stories, identifying exclusive beats, and cultivating sources that allow Page Six to break the news, not chase it.

This is a senior, strategic role that oversees stories from ideation to execution. The ideal candidate understands that exclusives are integral to the continued growth and evolution of Page Six as a business.

We need someone with a proven track record of delivering fast-paced stories on the West Coast while adhering to the highest journalistic standards of sourcing and accuracy.

They need a network of industry contacts and a deep understanding of California and what Angelinos really care about in the Entertainment space.   

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a team of West Coast reporters focused on identifying, developing, and executing exclusive, agenda-setting stories that distinguish Page Six and the California Post from their competitors, drive sustained impact and audience growth.

  • Maintaining existing and developing new industry contacts. 

  • Attend daily Page Six Exclusives and California Post meetings to identify source opportunities, troubleshoot reporting challenges, and refine news strategy in real time.

  • Work closely with New York and California newsrooms to drive original reporting and break exclusives.

  • Ensure exclusive story efforts are tightly aligned with broader news priorities and coverage plans of Page Six and the California Post.

  • Contribute to the broader growth of Page Six and the California Post by increasing editorial authority and reputation.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A minimum of 7 years professional experience in entertainment journalism, with significant success breaking news and developing sources.

  • Strong experience leading teams during breaking news situations and advancing stories through diverse sourcing and follow-up reporting.

  • A strong understanding of journalistic ethics and the legal standards governing reporting, including source protection, libel and defamation, and responsible handling of sensitive stories.

  • Exceptional news judgment with a deep knowledge of the key players in the entertainment industry on the West Coast.

  • Extensive experience breaking timely and accurate court and legal updates as well as a thorough knowledge of requesting police reports, mug shots, body-camera footage, court filings, and financial, business and real estate records to support exclusive reporting.

  • A leadership style that sets a high bar for performance and accountability, leads by example, and fosters an environment where reporters are supported, challenged, and consistently producing standout work.

  • Strong editing and fact-checking skills, with meticulous attention to detail under tight deadlines.

  • An extensive contacts book.

  • The ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, high-pressure newsroom environment.

  • Consistent delivery of agenda-setting exclusives that lead coverage across the entertainment news cycle and help differentiate Page Six and the California Post from their competitors.

  • A measurable contribution to Page Six’s brand growth, audience engagement, and reputation as a market leader in entertainment news.

  • Contribution to significant audience growth in The Californian market.  

 

Note: This role will be expected to report into our California office 5 days per week (subject to change depending on business needs).

Base Pay Range: $95,000 - $120,000

We’re committed to offering competitive and flexible compensation to attract top talent. This pay range reflects our good faith estimate for the role and may vary based on a candidate’s experience, skills, location, and other relevant factors.

For bonus-eligible roles, targets are determined based on multiple considerations, including market benchmarks and individual contributions.
