Job Description:

This position is responsible for creating, developing and commercializing packaging initiatives that support sustainability focused business needs for Mars Snacking Canadian market. This role provides technical support to troubleshoot key quality or manufacturing issues.

What are we looking for?

Minimum Requirements
  • B.S. Packaging Science Degree or related technical discipline or equivalent
  • 3+ years of industry experience
  • Solid understanding of key scientific principles associated with packaging.
  • Demonstrated record of success performing research
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with teams.
  • Effective communication skills
  • Up to 50% travel


Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree in Packaging Science or related technical discipline
  • Food/CPG and manufacturing experience
  • Flexible films development experience


What will be your key responsibilities?
  • Leads development of 'fit for purpose 'packaging platforms that are designed to maximize desirability/feasibility/viability/sustainability.
  • Leads areas of sustainable technical development across Canadian packaging portfolio. Examples include focus on mono-material and paper development, improvement and implementation.
  • Develops detailed packaging specifications to ensure quality materials and best value for money on all packaging components used at our facilities, co-packers and co manufacturers.
  • Initiates, coordinates and executes line trials at appropriate supply locations to confirm that quality attributes and performance metrics are achieved.
  • Work with the cross-functional cell teams to ensure solutions are fit for purpose and achieve KQAs.
  • Manages packaging suppliers to ensure proper execution of projects and recommends/qualifies new ones when appropriate.
  • Coordinates the creation of high-quality prototypes to gauge consumer desirability, influence teams and support customer collaboration.
  • Collaborates with global Mars counterparts to spot opportunities for scale, ensure sharing of best practices and coordination of key activities.
  • Active member of the team and supports onboarding of Associate Packaging Engineers and Packaging Engineers to Mars culture and business processes.

The base pay range for this position at commencement of employment is between the range listed below, however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package for this position will include variable pay, medical and dental benefits, participation in 401k plan, and paid time off benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an applicant receives an offer of employment.

The pay range shown is applicable to all US locations listed within the job posting:USD 101,120.00 - USD 139,040.00
