Role Objectives:
Working with cross functional Global teams you will provide solutions relating to the development of toy product and Point of Sale (POS) Packaging across the entire range of Moose products from concept and costing through to manufacturing.
The role will require you to ensure product appeal and integrity under varying shipping and display conditions. This will include packaging development on both 2D and 3D environments, cost estimation, testing and analysis, materials and process selection for packaging based on manufacturability, durability, performance and price, while always pushing the boundaries of innovation, quality and design.
This role will be based in the LA Office and work along with Moose Global teams on Licensed brand packaging. You will work closely with Product Design, Art Directors, Product Engineering and Project Management teams to develop new packaging solutions that:
• provide innovative design and engineering solutions
• satisfy the design intent
• meet product integrity specifications
• are feasible and cost efficient to manufacture
• meet the required schedule
• deliver "Frustration Free" and environmentally conscious packaging solutions
Qualifications:
• A tertiary qualification in Packaging Engineering, Product Design, Engineering, Industrial Design or similar
• 5+ years of packaging design and engineering experience (concept to production), including 3D modelling, costing, testing and manufacturing
• Toy industry or FMCG experience is valuable but not essential.
Responsibilities:
• In collaboration with the Design team, assist in the further development of licensed brand packaging solutions from approved concept through to production with a focus on innovation
• Work with the Design team to prepare cost estimates on packaging and printing options during concept development while ensuring all packaging dimensions are estimated accurately to enable retail partners to set planograms
• Provide packaging design and engineering direction and technical support to the product development team, including guidance regarding concept feasibility, cost considerations, general product manufacturing and assembly recommendations
• Analyze packaging designs to optimise the utilization of materials as well as manufacturing, assembly methods and production processes in order to meet cost objectives, quality and transit testing specifications
• Ensure packaging concepts are feasible in large scale manufacturing environment and are delivered within budget
• Contribute to the development of "Frustration Free Packaging"
• Research and present new package design trends, technologies, materials, and manufacturing processes.
• Build and maintain packaging library and ensure all conceptual packaging concepts, approved packaging die-lines and blister specs are documented and filed future use
• Design and creation of inside packaging components, including blisters and component layout
• Creation of "Product Packing Instructions" documents to clearly communicate internally to the Global organisation and externally with production partners.
• Prepare and maintain product specification for all In-Store Display units, including FSDU, Shelf Ready PDQ, Sidekick, Endcap, and Shelf Pallets
• Design from concept to production including engineering analysis, testing, design, tooling recommendations, prototype build, safety approvals and product integration
• Develop and check technical documentation, engineering drawings and assembly diagrams to ensure that necessary information for manufacturing and assembly is clearly communicated
• Interface with manufacturers to resolve technical issues that may arise in manufacturing and to improve cost and quality of designs
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments and continual improvement planning
• Provide training to other personnel to improve overall capabilities and knowledge

Work Hours:
8:30am - 5:30pm, Monday to Thursday
8:30am - 3:00pm, Friday
30-minute unpaid lunch break each day.
Plus, reasonable additional hours due to multiple time-zones.
Salary Band
USD $90,000-96,000 USD
