About the role:Boston Scientific Neuromodulation division is seeking a highly skilled Senior Packaging Engineer with deep technical expertise and strong potential to grow into a future technical leader. This role is critical to advancing packaging solutions for medical devices, with a strong focus on material research, evaluation, and integration.
The successful candidate will lead efforts in developing effective packaging solutions for new product development and sustaining projects, evaluate packaging materials and equipment, support cross-functional project teams, and drive innovation in packaging technologies. This role requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution, along with the ability to work independently and collaborate across the organization.
At Boston Scientific, we value collaboration and synergy. This role follows a hybrid work model requiring employees to be in our local office a minimum of three (3) days per week.

Your responsibilities will include: - Partner with project teams on packaging, product design and development, materials testing, and specification preparation; develop concepts and designs for new products and processes
- Design and coordinate packaging components, tooling, standard engineering tests, and experiments; complete testing for new product development
- Plan and coordinate project activities and timelines; document project goals and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure progress and project success
- Develop packaging integration workstreams and ensure alignment with project objectives; identify gaps and create mitigation plans to reduce and eliminate risk factors
- Perform tests and experiments to solve complex problems; summarize, analyze, and assess test results to make sound design recommendations
- Troubleshoot packaging and product issues related to design, materials, and processes
- Create and manage packaging-related documentation such as specifications, test plans, and reports; ensure all activities are documented and meet regulatory guidelines
- Train engineers and provide work direction as needed
Required qualifications:- Bachelor's degree in packaging engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field
- Minimum of 4 years of professional experience relevant to this role
- Working knowledge of packaging equipment and materials (i.e. paperboard, corrugated, flexible films, Tyvek, thermoformed trays, injection molded parts)
- Experience with equipment qualification, packaging processes, and testing requirements (ASTM, ISO and ISTA)
- Experience with quality system controls (i.e. user needs, design inputs/outputs, verification/validation, etc.)
- Excellent organizational, communication, and collaboration skills
Preferred qualifications:- Bachelor's and/or advanced degree in packaging or mechanical engineering
- Experience working in packaging within the medical device industry or similar, highly-regulated industry
- Experience performing root cause analysis, designing and executing experimental plans, and using statistical methodologies to drive data-based decisions
- Ability to work independently to meet project timelines
- Results-oriented with strong critical-thinking and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with ability to manage multiple projects and prioritize competing tasks
- Experience in packaging development
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels
