Viking is an ideal company for the sales leader who is customer focused and performance oriented in our Viking Rentals Outside Sales Representative role. This full time role reporting to the Branch Manager of your assigned market, is your ticket to a sales career with limitless potential.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year with uncapped commission pay

Requirements

Key Responsibilities:

Sales and Customer Relationship Management
  • Identify New Business Opportunities: Actively prospect and generate new business from construction contractors, project managers, and other industries that require rental services.
  • Build and Maintain Relationships: Establish and nurture long-term relationships with current and potential clients to encourage repeat business and referrals.
  • Conduct Sales Presentations: Meet with potential clients to discuss their needs, provide product demonstrations, and tailor total rental solutions.
  • Quote and Pricing Negotiation: Provide accurate quotes for dumpster rentals, sanitation services, storage containers, and fencing solutions based on customer specifications. Negotiate terms, pricing, and service levels.
  • Close Deals: Successfully close sales opportunities and secure rental contracts for construction equipment and services.

Product Knowledge and Consultation
  • Understand Rental Equipment: Develop deep knowledge of the different types of dumpsters, sanitation equipment, storage containers, and rental fences available to offer the best solution based on client needs.
  • Advise Clients: Consult with clients to understand their project requirements, advise on the appropriate sizes, types, and configurations of equipment and services they need.

Order Management and Coordination
  • Process Orders: Own the order process from start to finish; confirm rental agreements, inventory availability, and coordinate delivery and pickup schedules.
  • Coordinate Logistics: Partner with the logistics team to ensure timely and efficient delivery and pick-up of rental items.

Inventory Management: Track inventory levels for dumpsters, storage containers, and other equipment, ensuring there is enough stock to meet demand.

Customer Service and Problem Resolution
  • Address Customer Concerns: Be the main point of contact for customers, address any issues or concerns related to equipment delivery, maintenance, or service interruptions.
  • Ensure Customer Satisfaction: Follow up with clients after service completion to ensure satisfaction and discuss any future rental needs.
  • Resolve Issues: Manage any disputes or complaints effectively and professionally, ensure that the Viking reputation is maintained.

Maintenance and Compliance
  • Ensure Equipment Readiness: Coordinate with the operations team to ensure that the rental items are in good condition, meet safety standards, and comply with all local regulations.
  • Ensure Timely Inspections: Regularly inspect and monitor rental equipment to ensure it's ready for use and meets safety and cleanliness standards.

Market Research and Competitor Analysis
  • Monitor Market Trends: Keep an eye on trends in the construction and rental industry to offer competitive solutions and stay ahead of the competition.
  • Competitive Pricing: Monitor competitors' offerings, pricing, and service terms to maintain a competitive edge.


Market Expansion
  • Implement sales growth strategies that align with the Company's strategic plans.
  • Foster a culture of creativity in how you approach business development.
  • Collaborate with management to develop and execute winning sales growth strategies.

Reporting and Administration
  • Track Sales Performance: Maintain accurate records of sales activities, customer communications, and rental agreements, and report regularly to management.
  • Forecast Rental Demand: Provide sales forecasts and input on inventory needs based on upcoming projects or trends in the construction industry.

Safety and Compliance
  • Safety Awareness: Ensure that all equipment is rented out according to safety standards, and that clients are informed of proper usage and safety procedures.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Stay up-to-date with local regulations and permit requirements related to construction waste, sanitation, and fencing, ensuring compliance in all transactions.

What You Bring to the Table:
  • A bachelor's degree in marketing, business, economics, or communications; or equivalent education and experience demonstrating expertise in customer engagement is preferred.
  • Strong Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with both internal teams and customers.
  • Negotiation Skills: Ability to negotiate terms and pricing effectively with clients.
  • Organizational Skills: Manage multiple clients and projects at once, ensuring timely deliveries and pickups.
  • Problem Solving: Quickly resolve any customer issues that arise during rental periods.
  • Knowledge of the Construction Industry: Understanding of construction project needs and how rental equipment plays a role in those needs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook) is your playground.
