As an Ordnance Engineer on the Lockheed Martin Space Propulsion, Energetics and life Support (PELS) Talent Center Ordnance/Pyrotechnics/One Shot Device team, you may support programs in human spaceflight, lunar and deep space exploration, or homeland defense and hypersonic delivery.
In this role you will support the engineering team by performing preliminary and detailed level component and system design, development, and integration for flight as well as ground systems alongside of more experienced team mates. Your duties will include responsibility for the design, manufacture, procurement and test for the initiation system, separation, actuation and mechanism ordnance components and assemblies. This job requires coordinating with customers, ordnance suppliers, test facilities, and other related fields including manufacturing, subcontracts, quality, structure, propulsion and avionics design, analysis, systems engineering, and integration with affected subsystems and facilities.

Other responsibilities may include:
• Developing and providing design solutions, of varying complexity, using CAD models, detailed drawings, and release of engineering work products.
• Reviewing requirements, from various sources (instrumentation, dynamics, stress, systems, thermal, manufacturing, etc.) to ensure that applicable requirements are flowed into the detailed design of assigned products.
• Providing frequent interaction and Support collaboration with program stakeholders, analysts, subject matter experts, peers, configuration management, and manufacturing, to ensure program requirements and schedules are met.
• Ordnance Subsystem Integration
• Guiding the conceptual development, requirements definition, and design of ordnance components
• Performing trade studies to select the appropriate design solution
• Developing product performance specifications, statements of work, and supplier data requirements for ordnance components
• Maintaining engineering drawings, specifications, and technical analyses necessary to support ordnance components
• Providing requirements flow-down, verification, and maintaining technical baseline at the suppliers
• Evaluating, selecting, and then owning the technical aspects of the procurement from the selected ordnance supplier

Basic Qualifications
• Prior experience with or knowledge of Ordnance and/or Propulsion subsystem design, integration, test and/or delivery
• Knowledge of requirement development and management
• Proficiency with standard documentation and presentation resources
• Demonstrated design, CAD modeling, and drafting experience
• Prior experience managing multiple assignments and customers, simultaneously and autonomously
• US Citizenship with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance

Desired skills
• Experience with Mechanical hardware and systems
• Experience with requirement definition, documentation and verification
• Experience working on a multi-stage complex vehicle program
• Experience with Flight Termination System and Ordnance system integration and development of separation, ignition, and initiation components
• Experience with Ordnance and Ordnance Actuated devices, test requirements, testing, integration and fielding
• Experience ensuring and demonstrating government technical regulatory compliance including with hazardous materials
• Proficiency in supply chain management and subcontracts
• Ordnance handling, installation, and experience
• Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and teaming with internal and external customers
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with adjacent disciplines (systems engineering, electronics, stress/thermal analysis, configuration management, production, test, quality...)
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple assignments and customers, simultaneously and independently with minimal supervision
• Hands on Hardware experience
• Knowledge of Mechanical and Propulsion Engineering Principals
• Active Security Clearance

Work Schedule Information

Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.

National Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in California, Massachusetts, and New York (excluding most major metropolitan areas), Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, Vermont, Washington or Washington DC is $85,500 - $150,765. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.

(Washington state applicants only) Non-represented full-time employees: accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) to be used for incidental absences and other reasons; receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month; accrue up to 52 hours of sick leave annually; receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
This position is incentive plan eligible.

Premium Pay Statement

Pay Rate: The annual base salary range for this position in most major metropolitan areas in California, Massachusetts, and New York is $98,300 - $170,315. For states not referenced above, the salary range for this position will reflect the candidate's final work location. Please note that the salary information is a general guideline only. Lockheed Martin considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/ training, key skills as well as market and business considerations when extending an offer.
