What You Will DoAs the Institutional Facilities (IF) Operations Support Manager, you will play a key role in managing operational activities across the IF portfolio at Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL). You will serve as the primary point of contact for operations support, leased and historical facilities within IF. You will collaborate with programmatic customers, maintenance teams, and cross-functional personnel to plan and execute operational goals while maintaining communication portals, facilitating regular planning meetings, and ensuring compliance with institutional policies to meet laboratory objectives. Also, you will lead a team that maintains document control, training, issues management, and budgeting. Furthermore, your duties include ensuring safe, compliant, and efficient operations, supporting the execution of maintenance and project work, and providing oversight of facility status and emergency response while leading a multidisciplinary team of operations personnel.The IF-DO Operations Support Manager assists the office of the Facility Operations Director (FOD) by tracking budgets, work progress, and deliverables for projects. Responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and tracking all budgets across the IF portfolio.
- Coordinating cross-functional teams and ensuring alignment with project deliverables, budgets, and schedules by being in constant communication with customers, MSS, Engineering, Construction, and Vendors.
- Maintaining the Planned Major Maintenance (PMM) schedule and monitoring emergent priority statuses.
- Preparing and presenting concise reports on complex subjects for leadership, identifying risks, and providing recommendations.
- Managing and maintaining the IF Operations communication platforms and Microsoft Teams database to ensure accurate tracking of customer requests and project statuses.
- Other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities for Facility Operations:
The IF-DO Operations Support Manager oversees all aspects of facility operations within their assigned portfolio, including personnel management and operational support. You will primarily support the leased and historic facilities in the LANL portfolio.
Responsibilities include:
- Providing oversight of operations, ensuring the execution of equipment inspections, and coordinating maintenance activities.
- Managing responses to abnormal conditions and facility emergencies, maintaining facility categorization, and integrating project work schedules.
- Leading and supporting Plan of the Week and Plan of the Day meetings to ensure coordinated operations.
- Overseeing project activities for safety, security, and compliance while ensuring resources are effectively forecasted and allocated.
- Maintaining a budget and preparing budget reports.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You Need
Minimum Job Requirements: - Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in financial practices, with the ability to maintain complex budgets and make budget reports.
- Ability to manage complex projects with limited resources in an environment of conflicting priorities.
- Knowledge and expertise in training requirements, and the ability to maintain training current for the FOD.
- Knowledge and expertise in Document Control, and the ability to create and maintain procedures.
- Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the concepts and principles of Integrated Work Management, Integrated Safety Management (ISM) and Integrated Safeguards and Security Management (ISSM), or equivalent non-DOE programs, including experience reviewing, approving, and authorizing both facility and programmatic work as demonstrated through the DOP/IWD/work package reviews and approvals.
- Demonstrated experience developing teams and individuals in a collaborative work environment.
- Demonstrated ability to understand work hazards, safety practices, operating configuration, and lock-out/tag-out policies and procedures.
- Demonstrated excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Management experience.
Education/Experience: Position requires a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution and 8 years related experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience directly related to the occupation.
Desired Qualifications: - Experience in maintaining complex budgets.
- Demonstrated Project Management experience or related experience with construction management.
- Experience and understanding of DOE O 232.1 reporting to include running fact findings, reviewing root cause analysis, and participation in lessons learned reviews and meetings.
- Experience in implementing Conduct of Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, and Training.
Work Location: The work location for this position is onsite and located in Los Alamos, NM. All work locations are at the discretion of management.
Position commitment: Regular appointment employees are required to serve a period of continuous service in their current position in order to be eligible to apply for posted jobs throughout the Laboratory. If an employee has not served the time required, they may only apply for Laboratory jobs with the documented approval of their Division Leader. The position commitment for this position is 1 year.

Clearance: Q (Position will be cleared to this level). Selected applicants will be subject to a background investigation conducted by or on behalf of the Federal Government, and must meet eligibility requirements* for access to classified matter. This position requires a Q clearance. and obtaining such clearance requires US Citizenship except in extremely rare circumstances. Dependent upon the position, additional authorization to access classified information may be required, which may or may not be available to dual citizens. Receipt of a Q clearance and additional access authorization ultimately is a decision of the Federal Government and not of Triad.
*Eligibility requirements: To obtain a clearance, an individual must be at least 18 years of age; U.S. citizenship is required except in very limited circumstances. See DOE Order 472.2 for additional information.
New-Employment Drug Test: The Laboratory requires successful applicants to complete a new-employment drug test and maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing. Although New Mexico and other states have legalized the use of marijuana, use and possession of marijuana remain illegal under federal law. A positive drug test for marijuana will result in termination of employment, even if the use was pre-offer.
