What The Role Is

This position reports to the Manager, Control Center Operations, and will be located in our Scottsdale, AZ office. The Operations Analyst is instrumental in ensuring that our functions, indications, and processes around control system performance at our renewable energy facilities are best in class. Operating out of the Clearway Renewable Performance Monitoring Center, the Remote Operations team monitors and controls ~10 GW of utility-scale renewable energy and BESS facilities.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Real-Time Monitoring: Closely monitor facility voltage and real power controls for BESS, PV, and Wind assets, ensuring all systems function within prescribed operational parameters.
  • Dispatch Error Tracking: Continuously review unit control system data to identify, flag, and correct dispatch errors.
  • Troubleshooting & Issue Resolution: Rapidly respond to operational anomalies and control system issues, leveraging a deep understanding of unit controls to implement corrective measures.
  • Help determine critical monitoring points for control system design and change management to allow operators to quickly identify control system malfunctions.
  • Work closely with SCADA/Controls Engineering and Operations IT to investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve unit errors. Collaborate with IT to design, develop, and refine real-time alarm systems associated with voltage and power controls.
  • Participate in the development and enhancement of alarms for control systems, ensuring robust notification and escalation pathways for operational variances.
  • Documentation: Author and maintain detailed control procedures, ensuring clear, accurate, and up-to-date records for all facility control operations.
  • Aid in training support through the creation and revision of training materials for Operations Specialists, sharing expertise and best practices in real-time controls and dispatch operations.
  • Apply working knowledge of CAISO, PJM, and ERCOT, NERC, etc. requirements to ensure all monitored facilities meet regulatory and operational standards for energy and ancillary services dispatch.
  • Coordinate and perform control system testing for new projects and engineering design changes on existing projects.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related discipline. Relevant experience in electrical & power generation would be considered in place of education.
  • 3+ years of experience in Control Center Operations.
  • NERC Certification preferred, required within 12 months of hire if not obtained.
  • Proficiency in plant and electrical system designs, relevant software systems (generation mgt. systems, SCADA, etc.).
  • Knowledge in NERC, ERCOT, WECC, CAISO, PJM, and SPP regulations and requirements.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple activities and ensure safety, compliance, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Ability to take direction, identify problems, analyze root cause, and develop solutions in collaboration with others.
  • Ability to work well with others during stressful situations.
  • Ability to work well in a fast-paced, team-oriented, collaborative environment that emphasizes attention to detail, meeting deadlines, and working together to achieve company-wide goals.
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products, including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

The pay rate for the successful candidate will depend on geographic location, skills, relevant and demonstrated experience, education, training and certifications, and other factors permitted by law. This role is eligible to earn an annual cash bonus, subject to personal and company performance goals.

Salary Range Across all U.S. Locations

$90,000-$115,000 USD
