Summary/Objective:
The Operations Manager is responsible for leading and optimizing daily warehouse operations, logistics coordination, and workforce management to ensure efficient, accurate, and safe movement of goods. This position oversees inbound and outbound processes, inventory control, shipping/receiving, and distribution to meet customer requirements and financial targets. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader with strong operational discipline, team development skills, and an analytical mindset for continuous improvement.

Operational Leadership
  • Oversee day-to-day warehouse operations including receiving, put-away, picking, packing, shipping, and returns.
  • Maintain performance standards for accuracy, productivity, and service levels.
  • Implement and monitor KPIs for warehouse throughput, on-time shipments, inventory accuracy, and labor efficiency.
  • Lead daily operations meetings to align teams on priorities, safety, and service expectations.
People & Performance Management
  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of supervisors, leads, and associates.
  • Manage labor allocation, scheduling, and performance management processes.
  • Drive a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.
  • Drive the use of company rewards and recognition programs to improve employee engagement.
  • Partner with HR to recruit, train, and retain top talent in both permanent and temporary labor pools.
Inventory & Quality Control
  • Ensure inventory accuracy through effective cycle counts, audits, and reconciliation.
  • Maintain high levels of quality control and compliance with customer and company standards.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies or service issues proactively.
Safety & Compliance
  • Ensure full compliance with company safety policies and customer regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with all company policies, procedures, and code of ethics.

  • Lead safety meetings, audits, and corrective actions as needed.
Financial & Continuous Improvement
  • Actively participate in the development of annual operating budgets, capital investment, cost reduction, continuous improvement, and accident prevention programs.
  • Manage warehouse budget including labor, supplies, and equipment.
  • Identify and execute cost savings, productivity, and process improvement initiatives (Lean, Kaizen, 5S, etc.).
  • Establish standard operational procedures (SOPs) and continuous improvement activities (kaizen) to achieve optimum efficiency and budgeted return on investment (ROI) objectives.

Required Education and Experience
  • Eight years of demonstrated supervisory or managerial experience in a high-volume warehouse, preferably cross dock or transloading, distribution, manufacturing or similar environment.
  • Prior experience with the preparation of operating budgets, capital improvement projects, cost reduction initiatives, and productivity improvement plans.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain collaborative relations among all levels of an organization.
  • Computer literacy with MS Office Suite essential; prior experience with Warehouse Management and Yard Management Systems preferred and Manhattan Scale (WMS) a plus.
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. / B.S.) from an accredited four-year college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
