Full Job Description
Work Location: Site - IWTU

Shift Schedule: 4x12 shifts

Salary Grade: 16 Salary Range Min $87,495 Mid $111,830 Max $136,165

Position Purpose:

The Shift Technical Advisor (STA) provides technical assistance to the on-duty Shift Supervisor during normal and abnormal plant conditions specific to the safe operation of the plant. The STA monitors plant parameters and dynamic changes while on shift to ensure compliance with technical specifications. In addition, candidates will be required to qualify on those portions of the System Engineer qualification as defined by the System Engineering Manager.

Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education/Experience):

Bachelor's degree in engineering or other related technical degree plus 4 years of relevant experience with 1 year of nuclear related experience.

Position Responsibilities:

Compare existing critical parameters to plant specific critical safety function limiting values and provide an independent verification of critical safety functions to the shift supervisor during transient and accident situations.

Immediately report to the operating crew any abnormalities or plant parameters that may represent a challenge to the critical safety functions or that could result in the degradation of the safety level.

Assess plant parameters during and following an accident in order to ascertain whether plant damage has occurred or appears imminent.

Use redundant and diverse plant indications to verify that no critical safety function is being challenged during emergencies.

Provide recommendations to the operations crew on appropriate corrective actions to restore plant parameters to acceptable values. This includes recommendations for the selection of specific abnormal, emergency and safety function restoration procedures.

Investigate the cause(s) of abnormal or unusual events that occur and assess any adverse effects. Recommend changes to procedures or equipment to prevent recurrence.

Evaluate the effectiveness of procedures in terms of terminating or mitigating accidents and make recommendations when changes are needed.

Assist the control room operators in evaluating the operability of plant equipment to comply with the provisions of plant technical safety requirements. Provide results of assessments to the shift supervisor so that appropriate actions are taken to address any plant conditions that do not satisfy the limiting conditions for operation.

Assist the shift supervisor in classifying an emergency per the emergency plan implementing procedures.

Perform special tasks and support IWTU Engineering as defined by manager.
