ABOUT THE TEAM
The operations department consists of a team of professionals that focuses on the overall operations of Parametric. This group ensures the production process is complete from start to finish and lines up with the goals and functions of other departments within the firm. Examples include supervising, organizing, and completing daily production, measuring and evaluating daily workload, and providing services to ensure the business runs as smoothly and effectively as possible.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The SMA Reconciliation Operations Associate is responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reconciliation of portfolios and resolving trade, currency, and corporate action discrepancies with our custodians. This role will also be responsible for client and third-party reporting and other duties as assigned and ensuring processes and procedures are accurately documented.
The ideal candidate is a self-starter with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to work independently under tight deadlines. The expected shift is approximately 8:30AM-5:00PM EST.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Reconciling client portfolios against custody statements/downloads/websites
- Resolving variances in a timely manner
- Ability to understand risk and to escalate as appropriate
- Documentation of written processes and procedures
- Must be comfortable working with large datasets in MS Excel. Must be able to manage and organize datasets of 100,000+ rows of data. Must be an expert at basic Excel functionality (copying, pasting, setting up different views, sorting, and similar functionality)
- Analyzing corporate action events and when necessary entering transactions into the accounting system
- Record Keeping/Maintenance of client records and files
- Internal and External Reporting
- Communicating with a variety of internal and external parties to effectively resolve issues
- Resolves issues proactively with a sense of urgency
- Ability to manage in a high volume, fast-paced environment with strict deadlines
- Identifying opportunities for process improvements and proposing/implementing solutions
- Leading innovation projects, setting & meeting deadlines
- Analyzing risk and developing mitigation strategies
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor's (4yr) degree w/ concentration in Finance, Accounting, or related area of study
- 4+ years of work experience in Financial Services
- Competent in Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Exceptional interpersonal skills
- Must have strong professionalism and communication skills
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision
- Well organized, self-starter with the ability to analyze information
- Displays high attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness
- Ability to plan, prioritize, and meet deadlines
- Experience with VBA and Excel macros or other technology a plus
- Working knowledge of account reconciliation processes is a plus
- Advent APX & SQL experience a plus
- Alteryx experience/certification a plus

Expected base pay rates for the role will be between $70,000 and $140,000per year at the commencement of employment. However, base pay if hired will be determined on an individualized basis and is only part of the total compensation package, which, depending on the position, may also include commission earnings, incentive compensation, discretionary bonuses, other short and long-term incentive packages, and other Morgan Stanley sponsored benefit programs.
Salary range for the position: $70,000 - 140,000/Yr. The successful candidate may be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive compensation award. The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit's incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
