About the role
The Operational Excellence Senior Finance Manager is a key member of the Refining, Biofuels & Hydrogen Finance Leadership Team. The role operates across the global portfolio to strategically support finance operational excellence across a broad range of finance projects and activities.
Working closely with senior business and finance leaders, this role provides leadership across the portfolio to unlock business value and deliver operational excellence for Finance.
Key Accountabilities
Finance Leadership
- Act as a strategic partner to the VP Finance, supporting the development and execution of the Refining, Biofuels & Hydrogen finance strategy. Provide challenge, insight, and recommendations on commercial, strategic, and investment decisions to enhance value creation and capital efficiency as required.
- Support portfolio-wide interventions to address financial risks and performance gaps, and business opportunities.
Operational Excellence
- Lead the development and execution of the Finance Refining, Biofuels and Hydrogen roadmap, delivering sustainable improvements in effectiveness, efficiency, and business value.
- Drive simplification, standardisation, and digital enablement of the Finance Refining, Biofuels and Hydrogen roadmap through the adoption of technology, analytics, and automation solutions.
- Establish and develop prioritisation processes that ensure focused and deliberate execution of critical finance deliverables and accountabilities across the portfolio.
- Champion continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen finance performance, controls, and collaborator experience.
Portfolio Performance
- Partner with business finance leadership teams to enhance financial performance and optimise portfolio outcomes.
- Provide Finance VP support for capital programmes, ensuring strategic alignment, capital productivity, value delivery, and portfolio fit.
- Support the identification and delivery of cost transformation opportunities across the asset portfolio working closely with business finance team and VP Finance.
- Drive greater transparency and insight into portfolio performance, enabling timely decision-making and corrective action.
- Lead and support projects as requested.
Organisation Leadership
- Lead the development and execution of the finance capability and development plan across the Refining, Biofuels & Hydrogen finance organisation.
- Support backfilling any key gaps/needs across the portfolio, ensuring critical capability gaps are proactively addressed.
- Foster a culture of engagement, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement, by actively supporting team engagement plans and initiatives.
Leadership & Special Projects
- Provide leadership during periods of change and transformation.
- Build strong relationships across teams to drive integrated business outcomes.
Requirements
Essential
• Degree in Business, Finance or related field
• Proven financial skills with understanding of finance, control, and accounting.
• Extensive experience in commercial finance, including financial planning, performance management and business partnering (15+ years)
• Proven track record in manufacturing, production, retail, or supply chain environments with responsibility for financial delivery and transformation initiatives with a deep understanding of asset operations and the cost drivers that influence performance
• Strong commercial competence and deep understanding of integrated value chains and financial control frameworks
• Demonstrated leadership capability with experience developing high-performing teams, coaching talent, and influencing senior stakeholders
• Strategic outlook with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, able to assess risks, see opportunities, and drive data-driven decisions
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to challenge constructively and work collaboratively across functions
• The ability to lead through complexity and influence decision-making across multiple collaborators.
• Demonstrated experience in change management and strong influencing skills.

How much do we pay (Base)? ($179,000 - $255,000) *Note that the pay range listed for this position is a genuinely expected and reasonable estimate of the range of possible base compensation at the time of posting.
This position is eligible for US Benefits – Core. This position offers paid vacation depending on your years of relevant industry experience and will range from 120 – 240 hours of vacation per year for full time employees (60 - 240 hours of vacation per year for part time employees). You will also be eligible for 9 paid holidays per year and 2 personal choice holidays.
