Job Description

Distribution Engineering Equipment Analysis Center is looking to hire an Operating Supervisor to join the management team. The supervisor will be responsible for direct supervision of electrical technicians in conducting testing and analysis of distribution system equipment, including single or three phase transformers and associated instrumentation. The supervisor will promote a safe work environment, plan work schedules, ensure training compliance, and foster employee development. The energetic candidate will also support resolving technical or quality issues. In addition, the Operating Supervisor will work closely with our team of engineers in overseeing equipment analysis and spec compliance, including failure root cause analysis, new equipment prototype evaluation, or field visits.

Responsibilities

Core Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise technicians conducting testing and analysis of distribution system equipment, including transformers, network protectors, capacitor banks, and associated instrumentation.
  • Ensure training compliance and foster employee development.
  • Plan work and establish schedules to meet goals. Understand and improve work process flow.
  • Oversee equipment failure analysis for network transformers and network protectors. Determine root causes of failure, track and trend failure data.
  • Work with engineers to develop and improve equipment and maintenance programs to prevent equipment failures.
  • Ensure work meets specifications and quality standards of department.
  • Communicate effectively with various stakeholders such as Distribution Engineering, Transformer Shop, Technical Service, Field Groups, Supply Chain, and Field Services to prioritise and coordinate work.
  • Ensures that direct reports work in a safe and efficient manner and in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Monitor, control, and improve employee productivity and performance, using standardized reporting metrics.
  • Update operating procedures and engineering specifications as required.


Qualifications

Required Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree and with 2 years of value-added work experience
Preferred Education/Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree Electrical/ Mechanical Engineering and with 2 years relevant work experience in operating or technical role
Relevant Work Experience
  • Must have excellent planning, organizational and interpersonal skills Required
  • Must be able to exercise independent judgment and render sound business decisions Required
  • Must be detail-oriented, able to work under pressure, and handle multiple concorrent assignments Required
  • Must be computer proficient. Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and Powerpoint Required
  • Must possess strong knowledge of Access, SharePoint, and SQL data structures Required
  • Must have strong oral and written communication skills as well as the ability to interact with both internal and external customers, support staff, and various levels of management Required
  • Electric Operations engineering field, or operations experience Preferred
Skills and Abilities
  • Ability to inspire and develop staff
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, etc.
  • Ability to influence internal and/or external constituents
  • Effective interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills
Licenses and Certifications
  • Driver's License Required
Additional Physical Demands
  • Must be able to respond to Company emergencies by performing a System Emergency Assignment to restore service to our customers.
  • Must be able and willing to travel within Company service territory, as needed
  • Position requires extensive walking, ladder climbing, and working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Position requires ability to enter sub-surface structures to inspect electrical equipment.
  • Must be computer proficient. Strong knowledge of Excel, Word, and Powerpoint required. Strong knowledge of Access, Sharepoint, and SQL data structures preferred.
  • Must be available for storm and emergency response situations and be willing and able to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the department.
