Responsibilities

Summary:

The Associate Director of Workforce Research at the Florida Center for Nursing (FCN), headquartered within the
University of South Florida College of Nursing (USF-CON), supports the Executive Director in advancing the mission of the FCN to address nursing workforce challenges through data-driven policy, education, and innovation. This faculty member plays a critical role in providing statewide workforce planning, developing initiatives and research on best practices, and evaluates and disseminates strategies that will lead to improved retention among nurses and recruitment of a qualified nursing workforce.

This role exceeds traditional academic responsibilities and requires a dynamic scientist with a strong background in academia, workforce research, grant writing, and scholarly dissemination. The role includes significant travel (~50%, primarily in-state) to represent FCN at conferences, community meetings, and events.
Renewal of appointment is dependent on performance, program needs, and/or availability of funds.

Responsibilities:

Responsible for the design, implementation, analysis, and reporting of nursing workforce research including but not limited to surveys of the nursing and health care workforce, nursing employers and nursing education programs.

Monitor trends and best practices among the nursing workforce and briefs the Executive Director accordingly.

Evaluate and apply selected available models for nurse supply or demand forecasting and generating projections.

Assist with identification of workforce projects.

Prepare grant proposals and budgets for submission to funding sources.

Identify and secure resources for projects to be addressed by the FCN.

Develop and design instruments for data collection.

Collect and analyze data.

Maintain databases of workforce supply, demand, and nursing programs.

Generate written briefs, reports, infographics, visuals, and other materials to distribute nursing workforce data and trends to a wide audience.

Present FCN findings to local, statewide, and national stakeholders.

Collaborate with the marketing team to prepare media releases.

Prepare manuscripts for publication related to activities of the FCN.

Supervise staff and/or work with vendors assisting with projects for which the position is responsible.

Maintain a network of state and national relationships that facilitates FCN's efforts.

Represent the FCN at selected meetings, conferences, and committees.

Plan and implement evaluation of nursing workforce research activities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

Doctoral degree from an accredited institution or the highest degree appropriate in the field of specialization with a demonstrated record of achievement in teaching, academic research, and service. Must meet university criteria for appointment to the rank of Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor.

Additional Minimum Qualifications:

Knowledge of research methods, statistics, and health workforce issues.

Demonstrated ability to design and implement research including the analysis and interpretations of primary and
secondary data.

Survey research, health services research, and evaluation research experience.

Experience in translating research into visual and written briefs.

Strong communication, leadership, and collaboration skills.

Proficient in technology and data systems relevant to workforce analysis.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively with administrators, partners, and staff.

Demonstrated ability to plan and organize assigned activities, including staff when appropriate.

Demonstrated leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in grant writing and program funding.

Experience in advancing workforce initiatives.

Experience working with state agencies, boards, or legislative stakeholders.
