Full Job Description
  • Position Summary
    • The Oncology Infusion Manager meets all the following position requirements of the Nursing Services Nurse Manager which include: assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the delivery of patient care and provides for the development and evaluation unit personnel. The Nurse Manager demonstrates leadership abilities while maintaining the operational aspects of the patient care unit in collaboration with Patient Care Services. Beyond the job requirements of the Nurse Manager functions in a role with expanded scope of oversight to include the Infusion Centers within Professional Service Agreements with private practice oncologists. The Oncology Infusion Manager has the responsibility of assuring the Nurse Managers/Resource Coordinators at Candler Hospital's off-site Oncology Infusion locations in compliance with Oncology Infusion Services located on the Candler Campus at the Lewis Cancer & Research Pavilion. This includes aligning policies & procedures at each site, clinical competencies at the same standard and routinely evaluated and quality of care measures in place and reflective of The Joint Commission, ASCO &ONS criteria & standards. The Oncology Infusion Manager assumes accountability for the clinical staffing models to assure appropriate levels of staff are available for multiple Infusion Services sites. The Oncology Infusion Manager will manage a float pool of nurses that will cover staffing needs at off-site locations as well as collaborating working across departments to support the Non-Oncology Infusion Department which reports through Pharmacy when possible. The SNM will serve in lead capacity for the roll out of and ongoing monitoring of the Oncology EMR for Infusion Services across multiple sites.

  • Core Job Functions
    • Assumes responsibility for assessing and evaluation of patient care outcomes as aligned with SJC Nurse Manager role and assures the scope cover the PSA infusion centers. Establishes and monitors each location to compare outcomes and assure standardization in high quality clinical care across multiple centers. Assures that patient care is delivered in a multi-disciplinary manner inclusive of a knowledge base specific to each type of cancer and oncology continuum of care disease management.
    • Assures regulatory compliance for infusion services. Develops monitoring systems and audits PSA activities to assure CMS and other regulatory components are addressed.
    • Keeps the clinical policies and procedures up to date with the changing clinical practices as supported by evidence based guidelines.
    • Maintains knowledge of staff educational needs and activities related to the unit. Oversees and plans for unit staff educational needs including new hires orientation. Coaching and counseling of with staff for development needs, career planning, and to ensure quality patient care. Coaching staff 'in the moment†as staff delivers patient care.
    • Performs or assigns competency review at each infusion site and evaluates results to determine ongoing educational needs. Oversees the development of the overall oncology infusion services educational plan.
