Full Job Description
THE OPPORTUNITY

The Officer, Merchant Services Enablement Manager supports the execution and administration of the Bank's Merchant Services enablement activities across assigned markets or business lines. The position works with bankers, Treasury Management, the Merchant Services vendor, and internal partners to coordinate training, referral activity, sales communications, reporting, and follow-up. This position helps increase awareness of Merchant Services capabilities and supports bankers in connecting clients and prospects with the appropriate Merchant Services resources. The Officer also assists vendor representatives in understanding the Bank's products, client segments, relationship-management practices, and internal processes. Performs all duties in accordance with the Company's policies and procedures, all U.S. state and federal laws and regulations, wherein the Company operates.

HOW YOU'LL MAKE A DIFFERENCE

  • Independently manage assigned enablement initiatives, resolve routine and moderately complex issues, and make recommendations for process improvements, vendor coordination, and enablement activities.
  • Exercise discretion in prioritizing Merchant Services enablement activities, evaluating business needs, and determining appropriate resources and actions to support assigned business objectives.
  • Support Merchant Services awareness and adoption by coordinating communications, training sessions, presentations, workshops, sales tools, and program resources for bankers and internal partners.
  • Assist bankers and vendor representatives with introductions, follow-up activities, portfolio reviews, market visits, sales campaigns, and prospecting initiatives.
  • Support the identification of Merchant Services opportunities within existing client portfolios and new-business activities and connect bankers with the appropriate vendor and internal resources.
  • Track referrals and opportunities through merchant contact, proposal, underwriting, implementation, activation, and production, and maintain accurate pipeline and activity information.
  • Prepare recurring reports and monitor referral status, pipeline aging, merchant activation, processing activity, and other available program measures.
  • Coordinate routine Merchant Services questions and service issues with the appropriate vendor or internal resource, provide status updates, and escalate complex or relationship-sensitive matters when appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with Treasury Management, Marketing, Operations, Risk, Compliance, Legal, and other partners to support program activities, maintain documentation, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
  • Coordinate merchant discovery meetings and ensure the appropriate vendor and internal resources are included based on the client's identified needs.
  • Maintain training schedules, attendance records, program materials, referral documentation, and other Merchant Services records in accordance with established procedures.
  • Follow up with bankers and vendor representatives regarding outstanding referral, proposal, underwriting, implementation, and activation items.
  • Assist with banker communications, client campaigns, market meetings, success stories, and other Merchant Services awareness initiatives.
  • Gather banker, client, and vendor feedback and communicate recurring service, process, product, or training needs to the appropriate program leader.
  • Follow all established policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.


WHAT YOU'LL BRING

  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, marketing, economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in payments, Merchant Services, Treasury Management, banking, financial-services sales support, sales enablement, operations, or a related field.
  • Knowledge of merchant acquiring and payment acceptance, including card-present, ecommerce, omnichannel, and integrated payment solutions.
  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with bankers, sales professionals, vendors, and internal business partners.
  • Strong presentation, facilitation, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to translate payment capabilities into clear commercial value propositions for bankers and clients.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage priorities, pipeline activity, documentation, and follow-up.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to identify and escalate risk, client, service, and operational concerns appropriately.
  • Ability to work independently within assigned responsibilities and collaborate effectively across functions.
  • Ability and willingness to travel throughout Banc of California's markets as required.
  • Experience working in a bank-sponsored Merchant Services or acquiring program.
  • Experience with merchant solutions such as Clover and Commerce Hub.
  • Knowledge of commercial banking, Treasury Management, deposits, receivables, and relationship-management practices.
  • Experience supporting Retail, small-business, Middle Market, Commercial, or specialty-banking sales organizations.
  • Familiarity with integrated payments, APIs, ISVs, embedded payments, PayFac/PFaaS models, ecommerce, gift cards, and loyalty solutions.
  • Experience working with a Merchant Services vendor or payment processor.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

The base salary ultimately offered is determined through a review of education, industry experience, training, knowledge, skills, abilities of the applicant in alignment with market data and other factors.
