Full Job Description
Description

Quantum Sky (formerly Tyto Athene) is hiring a senior Offensive Cyber/AI-ML Engineer for our Chief Technology Office. You'll pair hands-on offensive security — reverse engineering, vulnerability research, and exploit development — with modern AI/ML engineering to build advanced cybersecurity capabilities in support of demanding government missions. This is a senior, hands-on role: you'll prototype quickly, take promising ideas to production, and help shape how we apply AI to hard security problems. If you like taking things apart to understand how they really work, you'll fit right in.

Responsibilities:

  • Reverse-engineer software and firmware and conduct vulnerability research across a range of targets and architectures.
  • Develop proof-of-concept exploits and produce clear findings that inform both offensive operations and defensive hardening.
  • Apply AI/ML — including large language models and agentic systems — to accelerate security research, analysis, and automation.
  • Build machine-learning models that detect anomalous and malicious behavior in high-volume security and operational data.
  • Prototype new capabilities fast, and mature the most promising into hardened, deployable tools.
  • Collaborate across the engineering team and mentor others; help set the technical bar for our offensive-cyber and AI work.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
  • Reverse engineering — strong, demonstrated experience with industry-standard tools such as Ghidra and IDA Pro, working comfortably from compiled and stripped binaries.
  • Low-level fundamentals — assembly language (e.g., x86/x64, ARM) and a solid grasp of Windows and Linux internals and debugging.
  • Vulnerability research & exploit development — finding and proving memory-corruption and logic flaws using techniques such as fuzzing and dynamic analysis.
  • Strong programming in Python and C/C++.
  • Applied AI/ML experience — building and deploying real systems with PyTorch and modern open-source LLMs and tooling.
  • Strong problem-solving and communication skills, and the ability to juggle multiple efforts in a fast-moving environment.

Desired:

  • Embedded / firmware reverse engineering and familiarity with emulation tooling.
  • Experience with agentic / tool-using AI workflows and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
  • MLOps and deployment experience (Docker, Kubernetes, model-serving frameworks), including on-prem or edge deployment.
  • Prior work on a government-sponsored offensive-cyber, vulnerability-research, or red-team program.
  • Offensive-security certifications such as OSCP, OSED, GXPN, or GREM.

Clearance:

  • Active TS/SCI preferred; active SECRET (minimum) with the ability and willingness to obtain higher access. U.S. citizenship required.
About Quantum Sky

Compensation:

  • Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically between $150,000-$225,000. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.

Benefits:

  • Highlights of our benefits include Health/Dental/Vision, 401(k) match, Paid Time Off, STD/LTD/Life Insurance, Referral Bonuses, professional development reimbursement, and parental leave.

The world the mission operates in is going post-quantum, contested, and machine-speed. Quantum Sky engineers the advantage across cyber, networks, software, and quantum because the mission demands dominance, not parity. We don't follow the map. We draw it.

At Quantum Sky, we believe that success starts with our people. We foster a collaborative, innovative, and mission-driven environment where every team member plays a critical role in shaping the future of technology. Are you ready to join #TeamQuantumSky?
