Occupational Therapist - Outpatient Pediatrics
Apple Valley, California
Full Time

The Occupational Therapist (OT) evaluates, plans, and administers medically prescribed therapy programs to restore functional abilities, reduce disability, and improve patient independence. This role supports pediatric patients in outpatient settings, ensuring high-quality therapy, patient safety, and progress toward individual therapy goals.

The OT plays a key role in interdisciplinary care, documentation, family education, and may supervise Occupational Therapist Assistants. The position aligns with Providence's commitment to whole-person, patient-focused care and mission-driven service.
Key Responsibilities
• Evaluate pediatric patients and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans
• Administer therapeutic procedures to improve motor skills, strength, coordination, sensory processing, and daily living skills
• Document patient progress, treatment changes, and discharge planning
• Provide family/caregiver education to support home-based follow-through
• Collaborate with physicians, PT, SLP, and other healthcare staff
• Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and regulatory standards
• Participate in departmental Performance Improvement initiatives
• Assume responsibility for patients treated by OT Assistants
• Orient new staff or students as needed; may act as interim supervisor when assigned
Required Qualifications
• Graduate of an American Occupational Therapy Association-approved OT training program
• Environmental orientation within 30 days of hire
California Occupational Therapist License - Active upon hire
BLS (AHA) - Required upon hire
• Experience in one or more of the following settings:
  • Acute care
  • Skilled nursing facility
  • Outpatient
  • Subacute care
    • Strong communication and patient-interaction skills
    • Ability to work within pediatric outpatient rehabilitation environment
