Job Description

Mayo Clinic Health System's Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology is expanding its team with a full-time position for an obstetrician and gynecologist at the Mankato campus. The role is designed for a Generalist who will have the opportunity to work in a newly completed, state-of-the-art birthing center. This center is part of the hospital's latest expansion and features seven labor and delivery rooms, each equipped with advanced patient monitoring technology and a birthing tub for hydrotherapy. Additionally, there are twelve postpartum rooms designed for comfort and care. The labor and delivery services are supported by a dedicated team of physicians and certified nurse midwives, who provide primary care for low-risk patients. They collaborate closely with a skilled and passionate nursing team.

The Mankato campus offers a dynamic and collaborative work environment, with a dedicated team of five nurse midwives who are integral to primary obstetric care. They work in concert with a rotation of five OB/GYN physicians who provide secondary support, ensuring comprehensive care for patients. The practice is not only bustling with a busy clinic but also boasts a well-established surgical practice, providing a wide range of services and opportunities for healthcare professionals. This integrated approach to patient care fosters a supportive and efficient workplace, ideal for those passionate about women's health and obstetrics.

The medical practice in Mankato is a robust center for maternal and surgical care, delivering an average of 750 babies annually. With advanced capabilities for neonatal care, including a level II special care nursery and dedicated pediatric support, the center is well-equipped to handle deliveries from 32 weeks to full term. The call schedule is manageable, ensuring a good work-life balance for practitioners. The surgical department is particularly noteworthy, offering access to state-of-the-art Da Vinci X robotic systems for a range of procedures, highlighting the center's commitment to minimally invasive techniques. This is further evidenced by the expertise of providers with focused practice designation in Minimally Invasive Surgery, specializing in the treatment of conditions like endometriosis and fibroids. Additionally, the presence of a board-certified urogynecologist enhances the practice's comprehensive care. For cases requiring further specialized attention, the proximity to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester allows for seamless referral to one of the nation's leading medical facilities, ensuring patients receive the highest standard of care.

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Mankato exemplifies a robust model of collaborative healthcare, where a diverse team of professionals work in unison to deliver comprehensive care. With a team comprising six board-certified physicians and six advanced practice providers, including five certified nurse midwives and one nurse practitioner, the department is well-equipped to address the varied needs of patients in the region. This interdisciplinary approach not only enhances patient outcomes but also fosters a dynamic learning environment for the providers, encouraging continuous professional development and knowledge sharing.
