Job Description Summary

‎ 

We are excited to announce an opening for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant. As a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, you will be responsible for providing continuing and comprehensive medical care and health maintenance to a panel of senior age patients. IMA’s Nurse Practitioner exercises outstanding diagnostic services, concern for their patients, and provides them with appropriate healthcare services that meet state and national standards of care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interviews, examines, and diagnoses patients during routine check-ups and for injuries and illnesses.
  • Orders appropriate diagnostic tests, interprets results, and communicates appropriate treatment options to patients. May refer the patient to a medical specialist or other practitioner when necessary.
  • Reviews and maintains patients' records and medical histories in a timely fashion and records progress.
  • May perform minor surgical procedures such as wound care, suturing, joint aspirations and injections, and administering immunizations.
  • Prescribes pharmaceuticals, other medications, and treatment regimens to treat identified and documented medical conditions. Discusses potential side effects of medication/treatment with patients and ensures that all allergy information is up-to-date before prescribing.
  • Provides education and counseling to patients and their families that may improve their health or help treat the health issue they are experiencing.
  • Accurately records correct healthcare diagnoses to ensure correct billing.
  • May order or assist in ordering medical supplies and equipment.
  • Stays current on the latest medical research, practices, and procedures impacting family medicine.
  • Adheres to departmental policies, procedures, and objectives, ongoing quality improvement objectives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and complies with all federal and state health information privacy laws.
  • Completes administrative assignments as requested by the Medical Director and partners with providers within the practice to ensure a collaborative environment.
  • Actively participates in monthly provider team meetings and performance reviews with the Medical Director.
Requirements

Required

  • Fully state-licensed as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) or Physician Assistant.
  • Basic Life Support certification (BLS)
  • EMR experience
  • 1 year of experience as a Nurse Practitioner working as a primary care provider in an outpatient office setting

Preferred

  • Fully bilingual (English/Spanish)
  • Athena experience
  • Managed Care experience
