Job DescriptionThis hybrid position is primarily hospital based for inpatient care and OR coverage. This position will partner closely with APPs and residents in order to ensure coordinated and smooth care transitions for patients. This position will cover our Colorectal Surgery service line.
- Obtaining patient history
- Performing physical examinations
- Ordering and performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures
- Formulating a diagnostic impression
- Developing and implementing a treatment plan
- Monitoring effectiveness of therapeutic interventions
- Offering counseling and education to meet patient needs
- Making appropriate referrals
- Prescribing prescription medication
- First Assisting in the OR and performing minor procedures and surgical procedures
- Assessing data reflective of patient's status and appropriately interprets information relative to patient's age-specific needs.
- Rounding on Patients in the Hospital
- Seeing and triaging emergency room and inpatient hospital consults Integrate and co-manage hospital patients with resident teams
- Coordinating patient needs and transitioning care to outpatient settings and with clinic care teams
QualificationsDue to the complexity of our patient population, a minimum of two to three years of NP/PA experience is required. No new graduates will be considered at this time.
Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current FL RN and APRN license and certification as a FNP, ANP, ACNP.
Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the FL State Board of Medical Practice.
Additional Qualifications: Active BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date and DEA registration required.
