The Mayo Clinic Health System Mankato General Surgery/Trauma Department is hiring for a Physician Assistant/Nurse Practitioner. The current practice consists of 5 General Surgeons, including trauma, bariatric, and colorectal surgeons as well as 5 NP/PA's. Due to relocation, the practice is looking to replace a PA/NP to maintain practice standards.

Primary job responsibilities would include: patient evaluations, such as, consultations and post-surgical care; functioning as first assist in the operating room; and acute management of patients during level red trauma activations.. Other job duties include: ordering, conducting and interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating a diagnostic impression, developing and implementing a treatment plan, monitoring the effectiveness of therapeutic interventions, and prescription of pharmacological agents and non-pharmacological therapies. The role would be include operative first assist, inpatient management, and ambulatory care patient responsibilities.

Qualifications

Nurse Practitioner: Masters-prepared graduate of an accredited school of nursing and Nurse Practitioner program. Current MN RN and APRN license and certification as an FNP or ACNP.

Physician Assistant: Graduate of accredited Physician Assistant program with current PA certification by NCCPA and registration as a PA by the MN State Board of Medical Practice.

Additional Qualifications:
  • 2 years' experience preferred. New graduates may be considered. Previous first assist experience preferred.
  • Active BLS certification from American Heart Association or American Red Cross at start date required.
