Role Overview

We are seeking a detail-oriented Healthcare Provider to conduct Compensation and Pension (C&P) Examinations and Separation Health Assessments (SHA) for Veterans and active service members transitioning out of the military.

In this non-treatment, chart-and-evaluate role, you will perform thorough health histories, medical record reviews, and physical examinations to support the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) in evaluating service-connected disability claims. If you are looking for a clinical role focused on objective assessment, charting, and investigative diagnostics without the demands of ongoing patient management or treatment plans, this is an excellent opportunity.

  • Separation Assessments: Conduct Separation Health Assessments (SHA) for military personnel exiting active duty.
  • Record Review & Charting: Review detailed military and medical health histories using a cloud-based Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Physical & Diagnostic Exams: Perform comprehensive and focused physical evaluations. Order and interpret necessary labs, diagnostics, and ancillary services to substantiate claims.
  • Medical Opinion Writing: Provide clear, official medical opinions based on examination findings and historical records.
  • Timely Submission: Ensure accurate and complete charts/reports are submitted through the VA online portal within 24 hours of exam completion.

Daily Workflow & Schedule
  • Exam Volume: See between 1 to 6 Veterans per day (depending on the length and number of DBQs per appointment).
  • Exam Duration: Average appointment lengths range from 1.5 to 3 hours (longer, multi-condition exams may take additional time).
  • Scope: 100% diagnostic evaluation and charting-no treatment, prescribing, or ongoing case management required.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Credentials: Licensed Nurse Practitioner (NP), or Physician Assistant (PA) with an active, unencumbered state license.
  • Experience: Strong background in physical assessment, medical history taking, and clear, detailed medical documentation.
  • Technical Skills: Comfort working within cloud-based EHR software and secure online reporting portals. (Note: Candidates utilize clinic-provided systems; personal IT equipment is not issued).
  • Attire: Professional presentation adhering to clinic standards (Scrubs, Business Casual/Traditional Business Attire, or conservative dress with closed-toe footwear).
