Join a highly skilled, dynamic group of APPs in the outpatient clinic in our Hematology, Blood & Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapies department at the Parnassus campus of UCSF Health. Our acclaimed program draws patients from around the world seeking effective and innovative therapies to treat their underlying blood disorders or blood cancers. Our patient population includes those receiving chemotherapy, stem cell transplants, or cellular therapies for the treatment of hematologic malignancies. In this position, the APP would work in the outpatient clinic 4 days a week for 10 hours a shift. They will primarily act as an independent billing provider, seeing follow-up visits and hospital discharges. There may be opportunities to incorporate new patient referrals and survivorship visits into your day. The APP will have the opportunity to learn and perform various procedures, including bone marrow biopsies and lumbar punctures. Responsibilities 1. Evaluates and manages patients in independent APP encounters, including telehealth. 2. Includes providing care to new, follow-up, acute, routine, and specialty patients. 3. Includes taking histories, performing physical examinations, interpreting diagnostic tests, formulating evidence-based assessments and plans, responding to changes in patient status, and ordering medications/diagnostic tests/treatments/therapies/consultations/referrals/durable medical equipment (DME)/home health services. 4. Reviews or collaborates with attending physician as needed. 5. Care provided must be documented in the electronic medical record in accordance with the UCSF Rules and Regulations. 6. Provider services must be billed to reflect the performing provider and comply with the APP Billing Policy 3.08.01. 1.2. Performs procedures individually granted to them via standardized procedures/privileges. 1.3. Identifies high-risk groups and complex cases for review with attending physician. Initiates consultations as appropriate. 1.4. Evaluates complex cases, establishes individualized plans of care for rehabilitation, and facilitates occupational and physical therapy and physical medicine and rehabilitation consultations. 1.5. Interprets and acts upon the ordered tests, procedures, and radiographic studies in a timely fashion. 1.6. Completes clinically relevant paperwork/EHR, including but not limited to ordering medications, completing episodic care notes and telephone encounters. Qualifications Minimum License/Certification: 1. California Registered Nurse (RN) License without restriction 2. California Nurse Practitioner (NP) License without restriction 3. California Nurse Practitioner Furnishing Number 4. NP national board certification from an accepted certifying agency aligned with the patient population and clinical role Adult Outpatient: (A-GNP-C, ANP-C, FNP-C, GNP-C, AGPCNP-BC, ANP-BC, FNP-BC, GNP-BC, ACNP-BC, AGACNP-BC, ACNPC-AG, ACNPC). Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) Registration with Schedules 2, 2N, 3, 3N, 4, and 5 registered to a California address 7. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification 8. Additional required AHA certifications: None additional to BLS 9. Additional required certifications (such as ENLS): None Minimum Education/Experience Nurse Practitioner 2: Graduation from a California Board of Registered Nursing recognized Nurse Practitioner Program with a master's or doctoral degree aligned with the patient population and clinical role. • These NPs have at least six (6) months of NP experience. • Two (2+) years of NP experience in Hematology Oncology in the outpatient setting • Recent completion of an Oncology Fellowship program • 5+ years of RN experience working with Oncology patients. Self-direction and organizational skills to function in an independent role 4. Ability to cope with personal stress experienced by health care providers and team members 5. Ability to meet minimum standards for hospital credentialing and billing standards as a billable provider 6. Submit health plan (Medicare, Medicaid, and commercial for all APPs; also, CCS for pediatric providers) enrollment by first clinical day 7. At all times, must adhere to the UCSF Medical Staff Bylaws, Rules and Regulations, Code of Conduct, PRIDE values, and applicable medical center/campus/departmental policies and procedures 8. At all times, must adhere to all UCSF policies regarding HIPPA, privacy, communication, documentation, encounter closure, and billing 9. This position requires flexibility for the APP to work at all UCSF Health facilities/locations 12.
