Full Job Description
Crouse's Madison Irving Surgery Center is hiring a Nurse Manager. Crouse Health is a regional leader in general and specialty surgical services - inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory. Crouse is home to two ambulatory surgery centers, serving patients whose procedures do not require an overnight stay. Our Nurse Manager position would be overseeing the Madison Irving Surgery CenterThe Department consists of 5 operating rooms, 6 prep rooms, 3 bed infusion room, 6 bay acute recover area, and a 12 bay recovery room.

Pay Range: $110,000 -$118,000 based on experience and education

Nurse Manager Responsibilities
  • Responsible for providing leadership and assuring the nursing process is implemented effectively by evaluating the plan and quality of care provided by staff.
  • Coordinates department activities and interactions with other departments on an on-going basis.
  • Attends and actively participates in hospital or medical performance improvement councils and committees as requested.
  • Proactively communicates with staff and keeps them informed on a regular basis or as needed; updates staff regarding policy changes in specialized areas.
  • Develops and utilizes department policy statements, scope of service, quality indicators and updates; revises as necessary.
  • Performs staff management functions related to employee selection, on-boarding/orientation, coaching/development, staffing, work assignments, performance management and goal alignment as guided by hospital policy and procedures and collective bargaining unit agreement (when applicable).
  • Participates, collaborates and actively engages in meetings to achieve goals and mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Conducts regular staff meetings to disseminate hospital and/or department/division information and allows for discussion of staff concerns needing clarification or resolution.
  • Ensures the provision of safe nursing care to all patients reflective of the plan of care through assessment, intervention and evaluation..
  • Participates in development and implementation of standards for nursing action and in the evaluation of those standards through process and outcome audits.
  • Demonstrates excellent nursing clinical knowledge; thoroughly assess the patients' condition and specialized nursing care needs. Maintains an awareness of the patients' and families' psychological and physical needs by promoting total care.
  • Effectively implements current techniques in nursing care.

Develops a monthly staffing plan to assure a safe patient care environment.

Nurse Manager Position Requirements:
  • Currently licensed as a Registered Nurse in New York State.
  • Bachelors' Degree in Nursing, or a Bachelor's degree in another field with a Mater's in Nursing degree.
  • Five (5) years' experience as a staff nurse with demonstrated expertise in clinical field, previous leadership experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification at time of hire or within 6 weeks after hire.
