Job SummaryNurse Director Labor & Delivery Antenatal Services Department

The Opportunity:
• Lead one of the region's most advanced inpatient obstetric programs.
• Oversee: 23-bed Labor & Delivery Unit, 12-bed Antenatal Unit, 4 Obstetric Operating Rooms, 8 Obstetric Triage Rooms.
• Provide strategic, operational, financial, and clinical leadership.
• Partner closely with physicians, advanced practice providers, and interdisciplinary leaders to advance care and ensure a caring, healing and collaborative environment.
• Shape the future of maternal-fetal nursing care within a nationally recognized medical center.
What You'll Do:
• Drive quality, safety, and exceptional patient outcomes.
• Foster an environment of inclusivity, collaboration, psychological safety, trust and respect for patients, families, and interdisciplinary clinicians and colleagues.
• Lead workforce engagement, recruitment, retention, team building, and succession planning.
• Mentor and develop nursing leaders and frontline staff.
• Advance evidence-based practice, innovation, and nursing scholarship.
• Collaborate in creation annual operating budgets, including proposals for new initiatives.
• Contribute to developing, refining, implementing Department of Nursing vision, practice model and aligning with MGB goals.
• Lead quality improvement, regulatory compliance, and accreditation readiness efforts.
• Responsible for the supervision of an assistant nurse director, registered nurses, surgical technicians and others as directed.
• Primarily days with 24/7 accountability.
QualificationsQualifications:
- 1. Current registration/licensure in nursing in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
- 2. MSN, DNP, PhD, or BSN with a Master's degree in a related field, required.
- 3. Current certification required or to be attained within two years from date of hire. Certification must be maintained while employed in this position.
- 4. Minimum 3 years of leadership experience in Women's Health.
- 5. Demonstrated evidence of exemplary nursing practice in Labor and Delivery.
- 6. Three years labor and delivery nursing experience preferred.
- 7. Recent experience as a nurse leader responsible for collaboration in a highly matrixed leadership structure helpful.
- 8. Experience with labor relations preferred.
