POSITION SUMMARY: SEMHA is seeking for a
Midnight Registered Nurse (RN). The Midnight Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing support and clinical oversight for youth housed at the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility during overnight operations. As a 24-hour secure juvenile care facility, the Midnight RN plays a critical role in ensuring continuity of care, supporting facility operations, maintaining medication administration processes, managing admissions and discharges, completing clinical audits, and responding to all overnight medical needs. The Midnight RN serves as a critical component of continuous healthcare delivery and operational support within the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Facility
This position is designed to provide flexibility in scheduling while ensuring consistent overnight nursing coverage for operational and medical functions throughout the facility.CLINICAL NURSING RESPONSIBILITIES:- Conduct nursing assessments and provide care for residents requiring overnight medical evaluation or treatment.
- Monitor, assess, and respond to medical concerns, urgent situations, and emergencies.
- Document health concerns reported during the shift.
- Complete follow-up assessments after hospital visits, specialist appointments, or outside medical treatment.
- Review discharge instructions and implement continuity of care plans.
ADMISSIONS AND DISCHARGE RESPONSIBILITIES:- Complete medical intake screenings and admission assessments for new residents.
- Review incoming medical records, prescriptions, and treatment orders.
- Process overnight discharge medical clearances.
- Ensure discharge medications, instructions, and documentation are completed and communicated as needed.
MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION RESPONSIBILITIES:- Administer and document medications in accordance with physician orders and facility policies.
- Monitor medication effectiveness, adverse reactions, and resident compliance.
- Maintain medication inventories, narcotic counts, and storage standards.
- Reconcile and report medication discrepancies per policy.
ADMINISTRATIVE AND AUDIT RESPONSIBILITIES:- Conduct medical record and medication audits to ensure compliance and accuracy.
- Review documentation and identify outstanding clinical follow-up needs.
- Communicate unresolved issues to nursing leadership and incoming staff.
- Complete all required nursing documentation in a timely manner.
OPERATIONAL SUPPORT RESPONSIBILITIES:- Provide clinical guidance to staff regarding resident health concerns and emergencies.
- Serve as the primary overnight medical liaison for facility operations.
- Assist with medical response decisions related to illness, injury, or behavioral health concerns.
- Support emergency preparedness and safe resident care management.
QUALIFICATIONS:- RN Degree from an accredited school
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Michigan in good standing.
- Minimum of one (1) year clinical nursing experience preferred.
- Experience in correctional health, emergency nursing, behavioral health, pediatrics, adolescent health, or community health preferred.
- Strong clinical judgment and ability to work independently during overnight hours.
- Ability to manage multiple responsibilities within a secure 24-hour juvenile detention environment.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams including medical providers, operational staff, and administration.
- BLS Certification
- Valid Driver License and reliable transportation
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- Maintain infection control standards and operational readiness of medical areas.
- Address routine health concerns and nursing requests submitted overnight.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and process enhancements.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable policies, regulations, and nursing standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by nursing leadership.
Salary: $45.674 hourly ($95,000 annually)

Shift: Midnight Shift (Flexible Scheduling Available)
Schedule & Work Hours: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts, schedule determined at the discretion of the Medical
Director and Nurse Supervisor. Available for coverage on day/afternoon shift per
department needs.
