Responsibilities

  • Conduct tests and report results for nuclear process investigations and evaluations.
  • Regularly track and record test samples including UO2, Be, and urine for EHS compliance.
  • Perform Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) shop floor duties including contamination monitoring.
  • Update lab procedures and provide training to fellow technicians on EHS processes.
  • Communicate test results clearly to management and production staff.
  • Safely handle and store chemicals as per vendor and EHS guidelines.

Full Job Description
We are looking for a Nuclear Fuel Lab Technician for our Peterborough, Ontario site.

Qualifications:
  • Post-secondary Diploma/Certificate in relevant technical field.
  • Experience working with conventional computer applications and lab equipment software packages.
  • Basic Metallurgical and/or Chemistry background.
  • Experience working in a lab environment performing destructive and/or non-destructive examination of materials.


Desired:
  • Certified Lab Technician
  • Experience in Nuclear industry
  • Strong Mechanical aptitude
  • Ultrasonic Testing Certification, CGSB Level 1 or higher


The Position:
  • Operation and maintenance of modern lab equipment (e.g. UT, microscopes, Gas Chromatograph, tensile machine, etc.) required to support daily production activities.
  • Prepare, test/analyze and report on results of production samples, as per procedures.
  • Prepare, test/analyze and report on results of samples for NPI, investigations, evaluations, qualifications etc.
  • Perform, analyze, track, and record UO2, Be, Urine, dosimeters, and other samples on a regular basis as required by EHS.
  • Perform other shop floor related EHS duties (audits, fit tests, swipes, RSI, contamination monitoring etc.).
  • Update procedures and train other Technicians on EHS/Met Lab processes as required.
  • Communicate results of tests and analysis to shop management, production, and support staff
  • Mix, store, and handle chemicals in a safe manner as instructed by vendor, engineering, and/or EHS.
  • Perform cross functional duties as required.

Selected applicants will be tested and interviewed.

The base salary range for this position in Ontario (CA-ON) at the start of employment is expected to be between $89,085.59 and $109,851.90 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
