What we needSymbotic is seeking a highly motivated NPI Project Specialist to join our Supply Chain organization within the Strategic Launch Team. This role supports new product introductions, product launches, retrofits, and other cross-functional initiatives by coordinating procurement activities, executing established sourcing strategies, tracking cost and schedule performance, and identifying risks early. The NPI Project Specialist will partner closely with Engineering, Program Management, Category Management, Sourcing Operations, and suppliers to keep procurement activities aligned with program milestones and support product cost development throughout the development lifecycle.
What you'll do - Support program-specific sourcing plans for NPI, retrofit, and other cross-functional initiatives in alignment with established sourcing strategies.
- Serve as a procurement partner to Engineering and Program Management throughout the development lifecycle, helping keep sourcing activities aligned with program milestones and launch schedules.
- Coordinate with Category Management, Strategic Sourcing, Sourcing Operations, Engineering, and suppliers to track sourcing requirements, decisions, and dependencies.
- Track program-level procurement status, including supplier readiness, cost, schedule, material risks, and key sourcing milestones.
- Identify and escalate sourcing, supplier, cost, and schedule risks, partnering with stakeholders to support mitigation and resolution.
- Support Engineering in aligning designs with approved and preferred suppliers before designs are finalized.
- Gather supplier quotes, pricing, and cost inputs to support product cost models, value engineering activities, and sourcing decisions.
- Ensure aftersales considerations, including spare parts, serviceability, warranty, and lifecycle cost, are incorporated into development-phase sourcing activities.
- Support multiple concurrent programs and adjust priorities as product development and launch schedules shift.
- Support the transition of programs from development into steady-state procurement and sourcing operations.
What you'll need - Bachelor's degree in Business, Supply Chain, Engineering, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in procurement, sourcing, supply chain, or project/program management.
- Experience supporting NPI, product development, or cross-functional programs in a technical or manufacturing environment.
- Working knowledge of sourcing, supplier management, and purchasing processes.
- Strong project management, analytical, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Experience with ERP/MRP systems; SAP preferred.
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills preferred.
Our Environment - Up to 10-20% of travel may be required. Employees must have a valid driver's license and the ability to drive and/or fly to client and other customer locations.
- This role works cross-functionally across engineering, program management, and procurement teams and may require flexibility to align with project meeting schedules.
- Employees may be required to use a personal credit card for business travel expenses, which are reimbursed based on the program guidelines. Eligible employees may receive a corporate credit card based on role and travel requirements, but a personal credit card may be needed during onboarding until the corporate card is issued.

The base range for this position in the posted location is $87,000.00 - $119,900.00 however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes medical, dental, vision, disability, 401K, PTO and/or other benefits.
