Overview

AMERICAN SYSTEMS is seeking Systems Administrator, Senior personnel to support the NISSC 3 program at Vandenberg Space Force Base, California. These positions provide onsite and oncall technical and operational support for multiple mission systems, ensuring system availability, user support, and compliance with operational standards in a TS/SCI environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide onsite and oncall system administration and operational support for mission systems at Vandenberg SFB. • Perform troubleshooting of hardware, software, network, and system performance issues and implement corrective actions. • Conduct preventive/corrective maintenance, including software updates, patches, configuration changes, and performance tuning. • Provide firstline user support and training for system access, operations, and basic troubleshooting. • Collect and update operational logs, incident and deficiency reports, and checklists in accordance with program and security requirements. • Perform incident response and recovery activities, including triage, escalation, resolution, and documentation. • Execute backup and restore operations to maintain data integrity and availability. • Support system administration and database support tasks to sustain mission operations. • Oversee procedural compliance; ensure records and reports meet required operational, security, and audit standards. • Act as a technical resource for performance optimization, data integrity, role continuity, and support to management status reporting. • For Lead roles, coordinate work assignment, task tracking, and mentoring of junior staff.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of relevant experience in systems or network administration, systems support, or similar technical roles in secure, missioncritical (DoD or similar) environments. • Strong leadership capabilities in directing project/task execution across domains such as maintenance, integration, and data management. • Experience allocating resources, monitoring progress, and ensuring quality deliverables. • Demonstrated ability to resolve operational issues and provide precise, timely status updates to management and stakeholders. • Experience managing schedules and aligning tasks with program objectives to support integrated operations across functional domains. • Strong documentation skills for logs, incident reports, and technical records.

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related field, OR Equivalent DoD/Military training in systems administration, network operations, or a related technical discipline.

Minimum: Active TS/SCI clearance required to start.

• Holds a DoD 8140 qualifying certification; one or more of the following (or equivalent) is required/preferred: – Cloud+ – GSEC – Security+ – SSCP

Actual compensation will be determined based on several factors permitted by law.
